Choose from a variety of real world options and create a voyaging cat that can outperform nearly every similar size cruising cat you see in the glossy ads in your favorite multihull magazine. Bold statement? Of course. But the VPP's look impressive and they've been on the money so far with he HH cats now sailing.
Morrelli and Melvin designed means you know the pedigree is right. Hudson Yacht Group built with the best materials and equipment. And Rocknak's guides you through the process start to beyond finish.
Be sure to inquire for full specifications, pricing, and brochures. See our videos at the bottom of the listing.
The Designer
The designer needs no introduction (but I'll give you one anyway). With the words "Morrelli and Melvin" you can also associate the words "America's Cup", "Multihull of the year", "Best boat of the year", "Stars and Stripes", "BMW Oracle", "PlayStation", "Hobie", "Nacra", "Robertson and Caine", "Pro Sail", and of course;
Hudson Yacht Group & HH Catamarans
The builder is home to some serious heavy hitters in the performance catamaran world. Hailing from South Africa, Taiwan, New Zealand, and the United States these folks have been involved with the creme de la creme of ultra modern hi-tech boat construction for years.
The Suppliers
Your boat begins in boxes arriving at the receiving gate. Labels embossed on crates and cardboard arrive from around the world. Yanmar, Beta Marine, Antal, Lewmar, Harken, Mitsubishi, B&G, 3M, Blue Sea, and dozens more make up an HH Catamaran.
Your Agent
Scott Rocknak serves as your interface with the research, spec, and build process.
Let me guess. There's two of you. You have decent monohull experience under 50' Your significant other has cruised with you. Perhaps a lot or perhaps not so much. You've sailed cats on charter certainly enough. Everyone involved really likes them. Maybe you got your feet wet with a 40 something charter cruising cat. Are you ready to jump into a 50' catamaran? The largest charter offerings down island are usually smaller. And the larger ones are crewed or require two skippers aboard. Can you handle 50'?
The short answer, based on the above presumptions, is "probably".
Hmm, you expected a nice sales approach "yes" didn't you? (smiley face inserted here) Well, to make that a "yes" we train you. Both of you. We have a performance catamaran program developed and aimed at getting you proficient and comfortable.
The Ocean 50 is a nimble boat. You'll come to appreciate your choice in building one. This becomes very evident when you leave the fleet over the horizon behind you.
Head higher, go farther, get there faster with an OC 50.
Sounds like a jet fighter classification doesn't it? 4th Generation is the term used by Morrelli and Melvin on their latest hull shapes. The Ocean 50 was developed for the cruising sailor who desires more upwind capability than current offerings and also requires a higher turn of speed.
Constructed from E-Glass, epoxy, and yes, even carbon fiber bulkheads, this boat is already out-of-the-box. A bit more of an investment than a "plastic fantastic" and certainly less than the aircraft grade all carbon fiber variant.
Will you find a hot tub aboard? How about 10 person flybridge? Perhaps a detachable Volkswagen? "Nope" on these. If you want performance and stay 50' or under, these are things you may want to forego. The Ocean 50 has a great sail plan. Big enough to do what it needs and no larger. That means being able to manage important items like the mainsail. Heavy boats want really tall masts resulting in really big loads when the sails take hold.
Go far. Arrive early. On an Ocean 50 from HH Catamarans.
All of the HH Catamarans models are built to order. Figure about a year for the build process once your boat begins production. In that year you work with Scott Rocknak to establish the what, where, and how of every aspect of the project. Since each boat is as individual as its owner you can imagine the choices that can be made. Its even possible to visit the factory and become interactive with your new creation.
We deliver worldwide and have an extensive training program. We can also guide you on cruising equipment and a cruising strategy having sailed to many of the destinations you may have on your radar.
