Built by Cumberland Ironworks in Maine
Designed by Jesse Lowell, the Grimes Cove is nimble, fast and stable offering plenty of room for your gear and your catch. This boat is ready to be customized to the specific preferences and needs of its owner. Cumberland Ironworks has been serving the marine industry since 2000. Our customers run the gamut from commercial fishermen and boat yards to private owners who want reliable, high quality workmanship.
This boat is self bailing. All water that goes in the boat leaves on its own. NO BILGE PUMPS TO WORRY ABOUT. We have fabricated a 29 gallon fuel tank that fits under the foredeck and acts as a step to get onto the foredeck. There is a wire and hose chase that runs down the center of the boat under the deck. The boat will come with the brand new tandem axle alum trailer.
The last boat we built, identical to this one,(see last photo) was powered with a 115 hp Merc. It went through the water wonderfully with a top speed of 39 knots. This boat is not a tin can. It is built very heavy and goes through the water quietly and smoothly. Take a look on You Tube at https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=0WinBrsymfM. We are offering this boat as a “power it and wire it yourself” project. If you need any help from us we would be happy to build a console and do the wiring for you. The boat does come with a four gang Blue Seas distribution panel, a Blue Seas battery switch, and a Blue Seas waterproof phone charger.
The last photo is a sistership photo of hull #1 that was built and sold, as an example of what one could do with this hull at additional cost.
