Boat Details

Description

The Bruce Roberts 34 design has been sailed across oceans and around the world.  It's a true bluewater design - strongly built, heavy and sea-kindly.  This is your opportunity to acquire a well equipped boat that has already been to Florida and the Bahamas, at a very attractive price.   It is Time 2 Go !

This custom built Bruce Roberts 34 was professionally welded and then outfitted to a higher quality of finish than is usual in Bruce Roberts builds. Interior headroom was increased, and she was fitted with a taller mast with in-mast furling, solar panels,  a hard bimini top and plenty of good quality equipment.

Some modest updates are required, but this boat represents an excellent value proposition for a couple or solo sailor looking to escape to Florida and the Bahamas.

Design and Construction

Built to plans purchased from Bruce Roberts, this vessel will easily and comfortably handle rough weather with a sea-kindly motion.

Hull was professionally welded, then the decks, interior and all equipment were fitted by the seller.

Hull was originally sandblasted, coated with Strontium Chromate, then multiple layers of primer and paint applied.  Foam insulation was applied to the interior of the the hull.

Lead ballast was installed into the keel space.

The rudder is mounted on a full-height skeg for full protection, and is driven by a rack-and-pinion drive from the Lewmar pedestal.

The cabin top and deck are comprised of steel ribs, 2x2 ash framing, marine plywood, fiberglass and epoxy, then marine paint applied.

The topsides are painted with Awlgrip, freshly updated, and capped with a handsome and sturdy ash toe rail.

The bottom has fresh Micron CSC anti-fouling paint, and is in good condition with no signs of exterior rust.  Fresh zincs have been installed on the hull, shaft and rudder.

Rig and Sails

The spar is an aluminum, single-spreader rig supported with dual lower shrouds, cap shrouds, forestay and single back stay.

The mast is deck stepped to a height of 40' above deck and supports some additional sail area beyond the standard 37' mast.

The headsail is a 2011 Lee Sails 130% overlapping cruising genoa with UV protective strip, mounted on a Harken furler.

The mainsail is a 2011 Lee Sails cruising mainsail, mounted on in-mast furler.

Both sails appear to be in very good condition, showing signs of little usage.

All control lines are led aft to the cockpit, where there is a pair of Lewmar #43 2-speed self-tailing primary winches.

Plenty of good Garhauer equipment

  • Traveler on coach roof
  • 4x rope clutches
  • Turning blocks, organizers, etc.

Lewmar track and cars for jib sheets

Accommodations

Entering the cabin from the companionway, we have the galley on port, complete with nicely built cabinetry, tiled countertop, Force 10 stove / Oven, microwave oven and sink.  There is plenty of stowage space, including for dishware and glassware.

Aft of the galley we have an unfinished quarterberth, useful stowage of all that equipment we need when cruising.

Opposite the galley on starboard we have a massive refrigerator with exceptionally thick insulation which goes a long way to reducing energy demands from the 12 Volt refrigeration compressor.  The top of the fridge doubles as a chart table or other work surface.

The main electrical panel, with VHF radio and stereo, is mounted above the fridge.

The starboard quarterberth provides accommodation for a single guest.  Additional guest or sea berths can be made of the settees on port and starboard. Between the settees we have the main table, with drop leaves on either side and stowage in the central portion of the table.  Stowage compartments abound.

Moving forward we have the head compartment, which can be closed off from the main salon and the vee berth.  The marine toilet is on port, with a washbasin and stowage on starboard.  The sink faucet pulls out for showering, and a separate pump discharges the water from the floor pan overboard.

Finally, we have the vee berth forward.

A main hatch above the vee berth, another above the head and eight opening portlights with rain protectors provide lots of light and ventilation, with insect screens.  Additional ventilation is provided by two dorade cowl vents and a solar vent on the coach roof

Headroom is 6' 4" in the standing portion of the cabin.
