A quality Van de Stadt Madeira 44 built by Maxim Marine in the Ukraine in 2010.
Hull and superstructure massively built in wood epoxy composite. Hull skins are strong fibreglass composites laid up with epoxy resins either side of a wood core of strip planked mahogany, further strengthened below the waterline and keel stub and finished with beautiful teak laid decks for safety and comfort.
Expensively refitted and rewired in Athens in order to be Certified compliant to EU RCD Class A offshore.
With a fin keel, spade rudder and 4 bladed folding prop.
Rigged as a cutter rigged sloop with aluminium spars, single line reefing mainsail and furling genoa and staysail, plus a spinnaker pole for downwind sailing. All lines lead back to the snug and dry cockpit behind a fixed sprayhood with toughened glass windows and a hardtop.
Extensive tankage, carrying 450 litres of fuel, 600 litres of fresh water and a 200 litre holding tank.
The machinery comprises a Volvo D75 - 75ho diesel engine that has only done 1,000 hours, a Sidepower bowthruster for manoeuvrability and a Mastervolt diesel generator.
The electrical systems are all Mastervolt 12v DC / 220v AC and the instrumentation all Raymarine, with twin plotters, radar, autopilot, DSC VHF and sailing instruments.
The interior is fitted out to a very high standard with light wood veneers and comprises three double cabins plus a convertible saloon providing accomodation for eight, with two heads with showers and vacuflush toilets.
The galley contains a 3 burner propane stove and an integrated household sized fridge freezer.
There is a flat screen TV for entertainment with a DVD player and stereo with cockpit speakers.
Astern there is a stainless steel arch providing davits for the tender, and housing solar panels and a wind generator.
Lying in English Harbour, Antigua, will return to Europe in Summer 2022.
