Boat Details
Description
Karma is a 2008 44' trawler capable of crossing oceans, cruising coastal waters and traveling inland waterways. She is currently cruising in New England this summer but will be on the Chesapeake Bay this fall. Call today to find out more about her and how you can see her and why the Krogen 44' is one of the best cruising boats out there.
Karma is the popular Widebody option featuring an arch with a 20' clearance. This is a great advantage, particularly when traveling the ICW and can hinge down to do the Great Loop. Karma has an hydraulic davit w/ power rotation, a water maker, 2 stainless safety staples on the platform and many other upgrades.

Construction & Design
The hull, superstructure, and decks are all made from single female vacuum-bagged molds. Cook gelcoat is used on all exterior surfaces. Knytex fiberglass is hand-laid throughout. Below the waterline the hull is solid fiberglass with vinylester resins used in the outer layers. Aramid fiber is incorporated in high-impact areas. Closed-cell PVC core is used above the waterline to add resiliency as well as acoustic and thermal insulation.
The Krogen Pure Full Displacement (PFD) hull form provides exceptional efficiency, economy, and sea handling. Some of the Krogen characteristics include:
- True full-displacement design for sea kindliness and comfort
- A hull form ideally suited for hydraulic stabilization
- End-to-end symmetry making a Krogen the most efficient hull to push through the water, and giving excellent directional stability in following seas
- A full centerline keel with large attached rudder protecting the running gear
Saloon & Aft Deck
Karma has a completely covered aft deck which is truly an extension of her inviting saloon. There is a fiberglass and glass weather door separating the aft deck from the side deck. There are two poly-lumber armchairs and a table for entertaining. (12/23) For shade there are (3) shade panels. (12(/23) From the aft deck, the saloon is entered through double welded aluminum weather-tight doors w/ Phantom screen door. (12/23) Because the aft deck and saloon are on one level, there are no steps to navigate. The port side of the saloon includes 2 Ekornes Stressless recliners with ottomans and a teak side table. There is a server cabinet that house a Raritan ice maker (3/25), bottle storage and shelving for books, photos etc. There also is a large storage cabinet and pantry. To starboard is an L-shaped settee with ample storage underneath, a hi-lo fold out table, a small storage cabinet, and an entertainment center forward w/ a 27" LG Smart TV. (11/23)
Natural ventilation and light abound with large opening windows port, starboard, and in the aft bulkhead. Each window has screens, a teak valance, and new shades (12/23). There is also a fitted and bound carpet throughout the saloon.
Galley
Karma's galley is forward of the saloon on the starboard side. The galley is open-faced, allowing the chef the opportunity to socialize with family and friends while preparing meals. Major galley components include:
- Force 10 3-burner propane stove with oven
- Vitrofrego dual voltage refrigerator/freezer (9/22)
- Large single stainless steel sink with FM Mattsson fixture and filtered water spigot
- G.E. Microwave oven
- Corian "Sahara" countertops
- Raritan ice maker (3/25)
- Seagull water purification system plumbed to the galley sink and ice maker
- Updated light fixtures (7/24)
- Large stainless steel opening port
- Custom tile backslash (7/24)
Master Stateroom
Karma's Master Stateroom is forward to take advantage of natural ventilation while at anchor. The Krogen hull does not have any spray rails or chines forward. This hull design eliminates the wave slap found in many other hull designs and assures a peaceful night's sleep. The natural ventilation comes from four (4) large opening stainless steel ports with removable translucent privacy covers, and an overhead hatch.
The queen-size centerline berth allows access from both sides and provides voluminous storage underneath. There are hanging lockers port and starboard, and a mirrored vanity with additional drawer storage.
Because the chain locker on Karma is accessed through a watertight hatch on the fore deck, the forward bulkhead in the Master Stateroom is solid. This design keeps out the heat, humidity, and odors typically associated with an interior chain locker access and is a water tight collision bulkhead.
Guest Cabin/ Office
The Guest Cabin / Office is on the starboard side immediately aft of the Master Stateroom. This cabin is perfect for a little quiet time with a good book or your favorite on-board hobby. The desk allows you to take care of your bookkeeping and computer chores, and the lighted bookshelf is both functional and fashionable. The recently (2023) upholstered settee converts to a double berth was well as a Pullman berth on the forward bulkhead for when guests are aboard. There is also a convenient step-through insulated door to the engine room. There are two (2) stainless steel opening ports with removable translucent privacy covers, and drawer and hanging locker storage.
Head
The head is opposite the Guest Cabin / Office. There is a large stall shower with molded seat, bi-fold door, and stainless steel opening port. The Raritan Marine Elegance toilet uses fresh water, thereby eliminating many of the odors often associated with a marine head. It was new in 12/22.
There is a Corian vanity with under-sink storage, large mirrored medicine cabinet, corner storage cabinet, and another stainless steel opening port. The head also features a custom tile backsplash that was done in 7/24.
Pilothouse
Up and forward from the Saloon / Galley area is the raised pilothouse which serves not only as a proper operations center, but also has room for friends and family. The captain will enjoy the Stidd leather helm chair, and visitors will appreciate the recently reupholstered (2023) settee with adjustable table. The Pilothouse has its own zone of reverse cycle air conditioning, but if you prefer natural ventilation, there are two (2) overhead hatches, two (2) opening ports, and welded aluminum Dutch doors port and starboard w/ Phantom screen doors. (12/23) When you have extra guests aboard, the settee converts to a double berth.
The Dutch doors provide quick and easy access to the exterior decks, and because Karma features the popular Widebody, there is convenient access to the Boat Deck and Flybridge just aft of the port side door.
