This already capable sailing vessel underwent an extensive $150k refit in 2019-2020 to ready it for an around the world sailing adventure. S/V Walrus (formerly S/V Shonto) sailed over 4500 ocean miles up/down the east coast and for two seasons in the Bahamas. Much of the journey was documented on YouTube “Take The Waters.”

S/V Walrus is a wonderful boat. She’s fast, comfortable, safe, fun to sail, and can easily be sailed by a couple, or even single-handed as all lines lead to the cockpit.

Safety and dependability are paramount; thus every system is continuously inspected and maintained according to schedule with detailed maintenance & repair logs. Preventative maintenance was extremely important, if there was a questionable system or component, it was immediately fixed or replaced. In two years of sailing, Owners never had a major system failure or cause for concern due to their preventive maintenance and regular inspections.
