2005 Beneteau 473Orkka is a beautiful Beneteau 473 Oceanis Clipper built in 2005, with long teak decks and a tall mast, she was designed by legendary naval architect firm Group Finot, and built at the historic Beneteau factory in France. Orkka has had only two owners, both have cared for her deeply and never chartered. Her first owners sailed almost exclusively on daysails in Croatia. Her current owners sought a family adventure and decided to buy a Beneteau 473, sail her across the Mediterranean and Atlantic Oceans home to the United States. That journey is now complete with Orkka docked safely in Ft. Lauderdale awaiting her next adventure.

Comfort
Comfort on long passages is paramount to keeping a rested and alert crew. The owner has taken every effort to achieve maximum comfort on board Orkka. With three separate air conditioners and a large water maker by Osmosea, a Kohler-Lombardini generator you can create all the water and power that you need. With fresh showers and comfortable temperatures even the longest passages will seem short.
- The OSMOSEA CL70 fresh water maker is one of the finest, and produces enough water for everyone to take hot showers every day.
- A new Kohler Lombardini 9000 Genset can power all three air conditioners and the water-maker at the same time.
- The engine warmed hot water system makes huge quantities of hot water very quickly and the three separate showers—including one on the transom make for very comfortable transits.
- Communication with loved ones around the world is possible with the top of the line Thales Vessel Link Satellite Phone System.
- Three well appointed cabins offer privacy and ample storage space.
Sails and Rigging
Orkka has the performance mast made by Zspar, more than three feet taller than other Beneteau 473s, and her keel is about six inches deeper making her ride a little smoother, and a little faster than the competition.
The current owners replaced all of her halyards and lines before departing the Med, and purchased:
- a new custom mainsail by North. The mainsail includes three reefing points and a Cunningham.
- Installed a new custom Solent Jib—with a new— North Sail and furler. The Solent jib provides one of the safest high performance storm jibs possible.
- a new custom asymmetrical spinnaker by North.
- a custom genoa was built by UK sailmakers before leaving Croatia and remains in great shape.
- Orkka has upgraded Winches—two two speed electric Harken 56 winches for Genoa and the spinnaker sheets. She also has a two speed electric harken 40 halyard winch on the coach roof which virtually every halyard and line can be led to this winch.
