Bénéteau Océanis are inspired by the spirit of the sea and they are designed to make sailing easier, safer and more accessible. With many single-handed round the world winners in their records, Jean-Marie Finot and Pascal Conq (Groupe Finot) are undisputed specialists in yachts capable to swallow up the miles with disconcerting ease and it shows in the hull sections of the 473. And her beauty matches her performance… The deck layout is highly functional and the list of standard equipment quite impressive ; it is a “Clipper”…
The requirements for the Océanis Clipper 473 layout are functionality, design and, overall, to make life easy. With her twin steering stations allowing perfect ease of movement and optimum visibility for the helmsman, the cockpit of the Océanis Clipper 473 is in a class of its own ; it is fitted with a removable varnished mahogany table, the base of which becomes a sturdy stainless steel handrail and footrest when the table is stored away in a locker. Another detail worthy of a mention is the slightly curved coaming that provides comfortable sitting. The Océanis 473 carries the Clipper user-friendly deck and rig gear, long battened and quick-reefing mainsail, roller-furling genoa with efficient overlap, rigid boom vang, electric windlass… The magnificent deck plan is a true invitation to cruising : wide side decks, panoramic windscreen discreetly blended into the elegant curve of the coachroof… all of which is surrounded by a solid teak bulwark, the distinctive mark of the great Océanis.
Inside, space and light are the key words : the panoramic windscreen is fitted with blinds built into the deck moulding ; inside each cabin and in the dining area, fixed portholes in the hull add an elegant touch of brightness at eye level, and the many opening portholes and hatches ensure perfect ventilation of the whole boat. The level of comfort apparent in the saloon is, quite simply, impressive as is the headroom. The forward cabin features an island berth, for the first time in an Océanis. The Océanis Clipper 473, an exceptional cruising home, will certainly become one of the best classics !
