Berthon International - Berthon USA (Newport, Rhode Island)
This is a rare, late example of the uber desirable Frers Nautor Swan 40. This particular example, from 1999, has enjoyed a sheltered life, spending her winters tucked up under cover. The yacht’s overall condition belies her years. Recent upgrades include new top side paint and a reassuringly expensive and comprehensive B&G instrumentation package. And a very nifty interior for a yacht of her size.
Offered to co-brokers on a commission split of 50/50.
ATHENA is one of the last of the popular Frers designed Nautor Swan 40s. She is the 49th out of 58 of this model produced between 1994 and 2002. We sold her new to a previous Swan 391 owner in Holland Mi. She was lightly used in fresh water and stored inside for winters. We then sold the yacht to her second owner in Seattle, and then to her current owner in 2004. Since 2004, the yacht has had fantastic care, and been inside stored every winter at Brewers Post Road, in Mamaroneck, NY. She has been re-Awlgripped, has an extensive $40K new B&G instrument package in 2019,. The fine teak woodwork below, long a hallmark of Swan quality glistens, and she is rare in not having a teak deck. This boat is in turnkey condition. Every year the cushions are taken off the boat and stored during winter months.
My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed cruising and lightly club racing on ATHENA in Western Long Island Sound. German Frers has designed, and Nautor have built a fun and lively yacht to sail, and she is also a wonderfully comfortable cruising vessel.
