Ruatahi is an original, American-made Manta 40' that had professionally built sugar scoop extensions to make it a 46' L.O.D. The custom mast is 3' taller than the stock Manta 46 mast and the boom is also longer, for increased sail area and performance. Mantas have a rig that is specially designed to sail downwind but can also point well upwind. Manta's were designed with blue-water, offshore passages in mind and these strong and capable catamarans have proved themselves on the worlds oceans. The innovative designs of Manta catamarans have kept them popular with cruisers long after production has ceased.
Retractable Bow Sprit

Upon entering the main salon, the galley is a vast U-shaped area to port with plenty of sink and countertop space for fixing meals while underway. The refrigerator opens from the top and has over 6" of insulation cruising in tropical locations.

The Manta cockpit is surrounded by a very secure solid frame Bimini top and canvas enclosure that gives all passengers in the cockpit secure protection from the elements. The aft bench seat in the cockpit affords the crew optimum visibility and comfort while sailing.
All running rigging is led aft to the location of the helm-seat and electric winches in the cockpit.

2500W zantrex invertor
The 12 vdc is supplied by battery source and the 120 vac is obtained from horsepower connections, Next-Gen Generator and Xantrex 2500 watt inverter. The wiring on board appears to be in good condition and neatly loomed. The electrical systems are branch overload protected by fuses and breakers while being controlled from a well-labeled distribution panel in the salon. The battery charge is maintained by a onboard solar system.
Heat/ AC: Hurricane heating, reverse cycle.

Twin 29 H.P. Volvo Penta MD 2030 inboard diesel engines power this catamaran easily through the water.
The 3 cylinder, freshwater-cooled, engines are located below the aft berths and are fitted to saildrives.

The mast is 3' taller and the boom is longer than most Manta 46's and the result is an increase in performance with more sail area. The mainsail is fully battened with boom-vang for off-the-wind sailing and a cambered boom on the Genoa pendulum sheeting track added, which also helps downwind sailing performance on deep downwind points of sail.
