J/42s are known as fast and fun boats- great for offshore cruising, racing, or to spend the day on with the family. SV THYLACINE has been updated by an accomplished shipwright and professional captain for fun sailing and comfortable cruising. Thought and attention has been paid to every inch of this boat and it shows through the boat, with plenty of well designed upgrades.

Currently the boat is in perfect condition, and ready to cruise. Upgrades since 2018 include: Monitor Windvane, 50 gallon water tank with keel centered weight under extended saloon settee/ sea berth. This settee can easily be configured to L shaped settee or converted into extra storage. A Maxwell 2500 electric windlass distributes chain weight aft and centered beneath the focale. New custom carbon fiber hard dodger provides protection from wind and spray, adds stability for sail management, and grab rails for deck work. Removable inner headstay and new deckhouse mounted clutch banks make for easy handling in all conditions.

The boat has an extensive sail inventory in excellent condition and a new rig in 2019. The engine is well maintained and the engine access has been improved. Solar panels are securely installed on a custom Bimini and are easily disassembled for storage. Electronics include Iridium Go coms and Pelagic auto pilot. Manuals and records available onboard. The bottom was barrier coated and the topsides AWL gripped in 2019.

THYLACINE has been continuously upgraded since she was purchased by the current owners in 2018. Prior to the current owner, the boat was originally commissioned by Admiral Morgan out of Annapolis MD, (sv Dolphin) and then professionally maintained in Mamaronack NY.
