A Kent yachtsman retired from sailing and wanted a purposeful motorboat. He liked the style of the Ranger 36 built by Northshore in the 1970s but could not nd a good one. So, he commissioned Camper and Nicholsons to nd the moulds, modify it and build him a one off. The result was Sindur IV. She is number IV, not because there are other boats called Sindur – he had a two race horses called Sindur I and Sindur II and his sail boat called Sindur III.
Sindur is much heavier than the original Northshore boats. The original Ranger 36’s could manage speeds in the 20’s knots. However Sindur is much heavier and she has a top speed of about 14 kts when light. She is best cruised at around 9 kts when laden.

Sindur had a great deal of work done in 2006 by Suffolk Yacht Harbour at Levington and this work featured in Motor Boat and Yachting. This included a re-wire, extra fuel tank etc etc.  She had further updates by Harbour Marine Services, Southwold in 2015 and a recent rework and update through 2020-2022.

 

Twin Ford Lehman sp 225hp engines. In 2020 these had a rebuild on the injection pumps, new injectors, new hoses, full cooling system strip and clean, full service.
Fuel tanks were flushed and all fuel polished.
In 2021 both engines had new oil pumps fitted.

They run economically and very smoothly. A comfortable cruising speed is in the 10 Knots range. The original Ranger 36 would be capable of 20 Knots but Sindur is a heavier built boat.
