THE COMMENTARY BY THE DESIGNER GERMAN FRERS

"The Swan 51, says German Frers, is my very first design for Nautor. It is a further development of the world-famous offshore racing champion" ACADIA "and my successful" BLIZZARD " Displacement and the length of the waterline slightly increased, which also significantly improved light weather sailing properties.

The underwater hull with the modern, fast keel shape and the spade rudder guarantees excellent behavior in the wind and excellent maneuverability.

The mast profile was specially developed for this yacht in order to achieve an optimum balance between flexibility and strength. After test sailing the Swan 51, I was extremely satisfied with the sailing behavior, the finish and the mechanical and electrical installation. The boat is very quick and responsive. The deck layout turned out to be very functional. The Swan 51 even managed to beat the "BLIZZARD" in a short race on the first day of a regatta series. Her lines were widely acclaimed and it goes without saying that the interior design allows the crew to enjoy luxurious life on board, both during sailing and in port. "

The interior is exceptionally spacious. In the foredeck, the yacht has plenty of storage space for sails and ropes. Part of the storage space can optionally be used for the installation of two fixed berths opposite the guest chamber. The foredeck area has a separately accessible sanitary facility. A large salon with a separate pantry area and the navigation table are generously laid out. A cozy owner's room with sanitary facilities is located in the aft ship.

The deck layout stands out due to its 2 cockpits. The front one is designed as a working cockpit. Most of the 14 winches are operated from here. It is related to the decline. The aft cockpit is reserved for the helmsman. There is a spacious bridge deck between the cockpits. Double genoa rails can be mounted on the deck on both sides of the flat structure; there are also two short rails for the cutter sail. The cutter stay on the foredeck can be easily removed on spinnaker courses using a quick-release fastener. Baby stay, backstay and big boom table are operated with a Navtec hydraulic system.
