History
1955 46ft 9 in Watson ex RNLI lifeboat stationed at Port St Mary, Isle of Man, where she had a proud history. This included the famous 1961 rescue of the three Chicken Rock lighthouse keepers from a fire in gale force conditions.
The present owner bought her direct from institute in 1977 for cruising and pleasure use around the Irish Sea. She has always been carefully maintained, and retains many of her original features.
Included in the sale (if required) is a floating mooring at Port Dinorwic, laid by Caernarvon Harbour authority last year.
Construction:-
Carvel Double Diagonal mahogany hull with a mahogany laid deck
Accommodation:
Southport Girl is laid out with a Heads in the fore peak aft of which is 3 berths and ample storage. The forward cabin is accessed through the forward deck hatch, aft of this is the wheelhouse (with Standing Headroom)with access to the engine room forward and aft to the main cabin and galley. The Galley has a 2 burner gas cooker with grill, sink and plenty of storage. There is also 2 berths in the main saloon cabin and a radio room.
Engine:
Fitted with Twin 40hp Ferry diesel engines to a conventional shaft drive. 2 x heavy duty batteries and also emergency flywheel hand-start if required. The Deck winch is powered by the shaft from the starboard engine.
