A lightly Used 2020, sailed for 4 months only before being Traded in for bigger and better
This beautiful Dufour 520 was purchased as a new vessel in May 2020 by local clients. They have enjoyed an amazing summer sailing the BC Coast, but have decided to order a catamaran through us and now we are proud to introduce to you, Ka Nani. It goes without saying that this boat shows like new and is still under factory warranty.
Ka Nani features a 3 cabin, 3 head layout. Her modern, yet elegant interior is spacious and inviting with an abundance of natural light entering through massive skylights and hull windows. The interior wood choice was upgraded to light oak cabinetry, oak floors and grey Corian counter tops. Her quality craftsmanship is apparent with solid wood trim, rounded edges, tight fitting floors boards and high end cabinet hinges to mention a few quality features. It is ln the little details that matter.
Dufour's signature galley is located forward of the salon allowing the dinette and seating to take advantage of the full beam, which creates a spacious salon. The forward galley is a chef's dream, as it is safe for cooking under sail and perfect for social gatherings, as multiple cooks can be preparing dinner.
After dinner the dinette table can be reduced in size by folding in all four corners, to create a more relaxed environment. It may be that time of the evening to turn on the Espar Hydronic heat and curl up on the settee and relax after pulling out a bottle of your favorite wine from the built in wine cellar, yet another Dufour signature feature.
The owners cabin forward is extremely spacious, featuring a queen bed with easy step access on each side. The head and shower are in separate enclosed stalls each having a sink and vanity.
The aft cabins each have an ensuite head, with the port head having a separate shower.
The forward facing chart table and seat is uniquely designed to canter up or down depending which tack you are on, giving you a horizontal working surface. When the chart table is not in use it can slide aft against the bulkhead creating more useable seating.
Dufour is renowned for the unique Plancha (BBQ) and sink, built into the transom which is concealed by the cockpit seats. At anchor, there is no place better than standing on the swim platform with the BBQ sizzling as you sauté the catch of the day.
The cockpit is spacious and features a large table with a built in fridge and storage in the center. The Dodger and Bimini with connector is of the best quality, designed locally by La Fabrica, On top of the bimini are 3 flexible solar panels (550W).
I have left the best part for last, after all the Dufour 520 is a sail boat. Dufour along with designer Umberto Felci, pride themselves in designing safe, maneuverable and easy to handling, sailboats that are a delight to sail under any conditions.
The Dufour 520 is fast, she is instinctive and responsive, giving you pure sensation with little effort. The twin helm positions and primary winches located aft allows for easy short handed sailing.
Ka Nani features a full battened mainsail and a 108% overlapping genoa. The bowsprit is designed to carry a cruising spinnaker forward of the furling genoa and free from the anchor roller.
She is a true pleasure to sail and to live aboard for any amount of time.
