The Seahorse 52, 50' plus a 2' built in swim/dive/boarding platform, is a pilothouse design with a large wide body main saloon aft. By special order walkways can be installed on one side or both. An optional flybridge is available.
Below are two queen sized sleeping cabins with heads, one with a separate shower, one with a tub. We have split the forward cabin into two double bunk cabins on special order. There is a large lazarette storage area with a watertight bulkhead aft of the generator work-shop room. Forward of the workshop is the engine room which, in the twin engine versions, has almost 6 feet of stand-up heard room.
Single or twin marine diesel engines are our standard providing good 7 to 9 knot cruise capabilities and a 11 knot top. The Seahorse 52 is a full keel, semi-displacement, round chine hull. It is able to exceed its 9.1 knot hull speed by a several knots and is very fuel efficient in the normal 7 to 9 knot speed range.
We have delivered 31 units and feedback from owners has allowed the Seahorse 52 to evolve into a great passagemaker with many unique features not found on other boats. For example:
1) Our 700 gallon three tank fuel system incorporates a fuel polishing system and a priming pump for safety. Optional 300 gallon long range cruise tanks available.
2) Tank venting and filling lines are designed to almost make it impossible to spill any fuel overboard. Considering oil spill penalties these days I'm sure it won't be long before our system will be copied by others.
3) An 8KW toroidal isolation transformer is standard for electrolysis protection as well as allowing 220 and 110 volts service in the boat and dual voltage dock input.
4) All inlet thruhulls are located in one sea chest to cut the number of holes in the hull.
5) Our dash safety Systems Monitor uses visual and audio warnings to tell the person on watch the status of every system in the boat including high engine room temperature, high bilge water, engine water flow, and any pump running.
6) Our unique "log knocker" prop protecting skeg is great for areas with a lot of logs or debris in the water.
7) A full stand up workbench and engine room (twin engines)in a 52 foot boat!
Interiors can be teak or cheery wood with teak being the most popular. All windows have powder coated aluminum frames with screens and the pilothouse windshields are 10MM thick.

Bronze "log knocker" prop skegs standard. A Seahorse Marine exclusive. Sea water strainers and ball valve sea-cocks on all inlets. All inlets except optional watermaker from a single sea chest in the engine room. Primary and secondary fuel filter. Drip pan under engine with oil trap overflow. Custom designed water lift muffler. Quiet, large capacity engine room blower with noise isolated vents. FRP fuel tanks well baffled and braced. Stainless steel ball valves at each end of fuel lines. ELECTRICAL: 9 kw Northern Lights genset with sound shield and delux remote panel. Separate heavy duty engine and house batteries connected by vapor proof master switches. Heart 2000 watt interface with Link 2000 control panel. Start battery is 220 AH. 660 AH, house battery bank. Back lighted custom made circuit breaker panel using high quality breakers. Master breaker is GFI (RCI) type for safety. 12 volt lighting; quality lighting fixtures. All Seahorse Marine installed wiring is multi-strand tinned copper boat cable. Wires have color or marker codes for easy tracing. AC wiring is sized to the more demanding 110 volt requirements on boats built for 220 volt systems for safety and to maximize resale market. Wire runs in conduit and all runs, except the bilge pump, are located as far above the waterline as possible. All wire runs including those along the shear are easily accessible. Lightening protection system. AC shore connector fitted to starboard side of pilothouse. Eight KW isolation transformer for electrolyses protection and to provide and except 220 -110 volt services AC receptacle through out protected by GFI's. DC socket installed in pilothouse. Copper bonding strip installed the length of the keel to four zinc's. International navigation lights and anchor light installed. Red interior night safety lighting and stern platform courtesy lighting installed. Pilothouse overhead lights have red night vision lighting as well as standard white bulbs. Optional electronic and entertainment equipment can be planned in advance with owner so necessary wiring, grounds and cabinets cab be built in. A counterpoise reflector for SSB can be molded into the deck lay-up to the owner's design.
WATER SYSTEMS: Two water tanks, approximately 300 gallons total, with ball-cock shut off valves and vents designed to prevent salt water contamination. Fresh water system uses aluminum/vinyl tubing, not plastic. Stainless ball type sea-cocks on all thruhulls below the waterline. Double all stainless clamps on all hoses below the waterline. Hot water heater with electric and engine heat exchanger for domestic water supply. High quality bath and galley fixtures.
Flybridge option available.
HEADS: Heads include Jabasco "Quiet Flush" designer electric toilets, shower, basin and storage. Head has power ventilation on timer switches. Towel rails are to handrail strength. Mirrors are fitted in head.
HULL LIGHTING AND VENTILATION: Stainless steel opening hull ports with insect screens. Deck hatches forward for ventilation and exit. Natural and forced ventilation in hull for comfort when conditions dictate a closed boat.
DECK: 316 stainless 1 1/4" pulpits and hand rail fully grounded to provide Faraday cage for lightning protection, 34" high for safety. Extra high safety rails around pilothouse to protect watch stander. Stainless steel heavy duty cleats and chocks, not chromed bronze. Folding boarding ladders to port and boarding gate to starboard. Heavy duty anchor chute with double rollers. 40 LB anchor with 300' 5/16" G4 chain rode. Stern platform designed as an "open cockpit" with handrails and two well scuppered storage boxes. Three large storage areas forward of the pilothouse which has a seat in the over an air intake plenum for forward cabin ventilation The Seahorse 52 probably has more deck storage than any other yacht in her class. Optional flybridge with full engine controls and instrumentation.
DECK HOUSE: The deck house has about 240 sq. feet of floor space and includes large opening windows; double stainless door to aft deck and a galley with cafe/bar to starboard. The galley has a stove with oven, refrigerator, double sink and lots of storage. Enclosed space for combo washer dryer with TV shelf above on port side. Teak and "holly" soles.
SUNDECK: Steps on the port side of the pilothouse lead to the large sundeck on top of the deckhouse. This sundeck is protected by stainless rails and can support dinghy storage. Electric dinghy crane available.
PILOTHOUSE: Standard interior includes "L" shaped dinette to port, a center helm station, a chart table/buffet with chart storage forward and a stairway to the lower deck. Two doors to forward deck P&S near helm position. Radar and antenna mast near pilothouse. Engine and gear controls and teak or cheery helm wheel in pilothouse. Marine circuit breakers for all boat operations and for planned electronics installation. Audio and visual warnings for engine water flow, high bilge water, high engine room temperature, pumps running, engine room lights or blower on; pump over run alarm comes on if any pumps operates continuously for one minute. Audio alarm can be defeated only with key switch. Vetus windshield wipers, three. Room in pilothouse for optional well insulated freezer or drinks box. Tinted side windows available in pilothouse, tinted forward windshields not recommended. Windshields are heavy safety glass and pilothouse design reduces water pressure on glass and boat structure in a serious green water situation.
LOWER DECK: The lower deck has two heads with sinks, one with separate shower, one with tub. One double bed sleeping cabin forward or two cabins with two bunk beds each, with hanging lockers and drawer storage. The queen size double bed cabin under the pilot house has a lounge seat, desk with chair and large hanging lockers and lots of storage. Escape hatches in all sleeping cabins.
