This freshwater kept boat was traded in when the owner decided to move on to something new. In 2011 this pocket cruiser won The Green Award in Sail magazine's annual Best Boat competition, citing the innovation by its manufacturer.
For this model, Hunter teamed up with Elco Electric Motors to deliver a beautiful, spacious boat that incorporates an AC induction motor powered by a rechargeable battery bank. It has only one moving part virtually eliminating engine maintenance. There are no oil changes, no belts to check and no coolant levels to monitor. No fuel tank. It runs cooler, is quiet, has less vibration, and eliminates the cost, smell, and emissions associated with a traditional diesel engine.
The Hunter 27e with electric propulsion is built the same as the company’s very popular standard H-27, however, the diesel motor has been substituted with the Elco EP-2000, that offers the same amount of thrust as the H-27’s normal 14hp diesel motor.
The electric inboard boat motor offers the advantages of being truly “green” in that it does not emit any emissions, noise, vibrations, heat, or fumes as it operates solely on battery power.
6 to 8 hours of power to the motor before they need to be recharged
Batteries can be charged either by connecting to shore power or by the use of the “Energy” option and a wind power generator
Great sailing performance with the added benefit of being truly a green sailing vessel.
Quiet cruising even when using the engine
Low maintenance engine -- no parts to maintain
