Manufacturer Provided Description
The Morris Yachts, M36, designed by Sparkman and Stephens, is a 36' traditional, classic styled boat intended for short or single-handed sailing. Whether you are going for a day sail or a weekend, this S&S design produced with Morris Yachts quality and the latest in quality engineering materials will deliver performance sailing that is fun, comfortable, and simple. It is a classically designed yacht of moderate proportions, timeless sheer and long graceful overhangs. A modest cabin is incorporated into the design which contains a vanity head, a galley with sink, 12-volt refrigerator and storage space for provisions. The port and starboard settees are carefully designed for lounging or sleeping. Generous storage can be found in the forepeak.
Sail handling has been thoroughly engineered for simplicity, reliability, and ease of use. All control lines, sheets and halyards have been led below the deck to control/winch pods located in the cockpit. Self-tailing primary winches are standard. The port and starboard cockpit winches on "Spirit" are both electric, which makes all headsail and mainsail handling operations a breeze right from the helm seat. The boat does have a second set of two-speed self-tailing conventional winches for sheeting of an optional cruising gennaker. All of these features allow the helms-person to comfortably single-hand the boat whenever that is their preference. Forward of the control pods are spacious port and starboard cockpit seats that are over six feet in length. They are comfortably suitable for seating six adults. Cockpit seat hatches on all three seats allow access to the lazarette. Guests may lounge in the comfort and safety of this spacious cockpit.
The hull and appendages are designed and built for fast and nimble performance under both power and sail. Exterior styling is traditional with gelcoat deckhouse and gloss varnished exterior teak including the toe rail, coaming cap, eyebrow trim and cabin top handrails. Integral rub rails with stainless steel strakes have been tastefully added and are quite helpful in protecting the hull's exposed sheer. The coach roof is finished in non-skid. The decks and the cockpit sole are beautifully finished with teak decking. All mechanical installations are simple and straightforward. A Yanmar 21hp Saildrive engine with 2-blade Flex-o-Fold propeller is standard for auxiliary propulsion. Wind, depth and speed instrumentation are standard. A complete owner's manual is included.
