The international award-winning, solar-powered, DSe 12m, "Sunshine," is now available. With her 5 kilowatt solar array charging her battery, she has enough energy to supply both her "hotel" loads plus propel her up to 5 hrs. per day! Her interior is finished as a high-end, luxury trawler with 2 staterooms and 2 heads. Like all Island Pilots, she is fully equipped right down to her satellite TV system with Bose home theater.

Sunshine is a pure electric-propelled yacht with a pair of 10kW Montenergy 48V motors turning the shaft through a 3:1 reduction. Top speed is 6.3 knots with max. cruise speed of 6 knots. At 5 knots her battery delivers up to 5 hours cruising with enough remaining battery to get you through the night.
With a 50kW/hour lithium battery, Sunshine can cruise in electric mode at 5 knots for 5 hours for a range of 25 nautical miles. There will still be plenty of charge to get through the next day while recharging.
Batteries: 2 ea. 12V; 1 each Winston Lithium LifePo4 48V/1,000 AmpHr Pack with BMS
The interior of Sunshine has a luxury, high-end, trawler-style finish. From her "sleigh" queen bed facing forward in the master to her roomy salon, master dressing room and spacious guest cabin, Sunshine is the perfect home afloat for long periods of time. She can live indefinitely on the hook without ever starting up her diesel motor/generators - the sun provides all the power needed for a live-aboard lifestyle - including modest, 25 NM, jaunts from anchorage to anchorage.
In keeping with her high-tech engineering, the galley is also very energy efficient. The induction cooktops use less energy than either LPG or electric heating elements. The GE Advantium oven also is an efficient cooking tool. And perhaps best of all is the Hitachi refrigerator/freezer - it uses the equivalent amount of energy as a dim, 35 watt, lightbulb!
