Construction
The Jeanneau 45 DS is instantly recognizable by the teardrop port-lights. The 45 DS is a unique combination of old school and new school building techniques. She boasts a solid fiberglass hull that is injection molded for uniformity. The hull is reinforced by a glassed-in grid system that ties in floors, stringers and facings. Bulkheads are tabbed to the hull.The deck is balsa cored except in high-load areas where it is solid laminate.Her deep balanced rudder is a model of performance efficiency. All control lines from the mast are lead aft partially under the deck on either side of the companionway. Two Harken 44 ST cabin-top winches and jammers make for safe and easy access from the safety and comfort of the cockpit. The jib furling line is lead directly back. Twin electric primary winches are within easy access to the twin wheels for push button trimming.
Interior The expansive light oak saloon incorporates a U-shaped settee to starboard and straight settee. The Deck Saloon incorporates naturally light and excellent ventilation. The L-shaped galley is to starboard. There are double SS sinks, a stove with oven and a microwave. The fridge is top and side loading and there is an optional separate freezer. The galley drawers are mounted fore-and-aft and have positive latches. Stowage abounds with lockers above and behind the countertops and stove. This well thought out galley allows the cook to be part of the conversation below. The nav station is opposite the galley. The desk is designed to safely house a laptop. The electrical panel is readily accessible outboard the nav station and, not surprisingly, a glance behind reveals immaculate workmanship. SNOWHAWK has the three cabin two head layout. The interior of the 45 DS is a delightful space for family and friends.
