The modern designed Gemini 105 MC is possibly the most popular cruising catamaran available. With big deck space, large cockpit, 3 double berth cabins, a well equipped galley and a light and airy dinette/salon, she is ready to take you to hidden anchorages in the islands. These yachts have made many successful voyages safely and this one has been to Florida recently. The owner removed the troublesome diesel and IO drive unit, and has installed a powerful Suzuki 90hp outboard with a custom trim/tilt heavy duty mechanism and a long shaft to eliminate cavitation. The conversion improved reliability without affecting sailing performance. See the detailed descriptions for more information. Please note that the yacht has only 1 cabin with a double berth, the other 2 cabins have been converted to a pantry and a storage cabin for distance cruising. They can be reconfigured to sleeping cabins easily.

The outboard conversion has greatly improved reliability without affecting sail performance. The outboard/bracket package weighs about 40 pounds more than the Westerbeke & Sillette driveleg, which is no discernable difference, especially with full water and fuel tanks and provisions. The conversion did not change the pointing ability under sail.
The 90-HP Suzuki engine was selected, because a 25-inch shaft is needed. Smaller motors have a 20-inch shaft and smaller alternator output. With the 25-inch shaft, the cavitation plate is about 11-inches under water, which is needed to prevent cavitation.

The anchor is spade anchor, about 25 pounds. There is a power windlass. The anchor has held without dragging through an unexpected 30-knot front.
The boards are fiberglass, hollow, and buoyant, which makes raising them easy when the boat is in the water. The boards are problem-free.
As with most Gemini catamarans like this one, there were leaks where the rigging comes in at the bulkhead. The leaks were repaired. And there is no damage to the deck.
If you want to travel with a dinghy, a small inflatable can be carried on the davits, however, storing a small zodiac-style dinghy on the deck is easier than davits.
