We know our listings and have been aboard every boat we represent. If the person you are working with has never been aboard this vessel or has little details on your first contact you are not speaking with the listing broker.
Symbol Yachts rival the construction, appointments, craftsmanship, and attention to detail of more recognized names such as Fleming, Grand Banks, and Krogen.
Symbol is a big boat builder and the 42 was built like a boat much greater in size. Just look at the size of the cleats.
To build a boat this way is expensive and risky for a builder because the profit margin on boats often works on a length to price basis. The longer the length the bigger the price, and the bigger the percentage margins. That is why so many builders no longer build anything under 65 feet. Well it looks like someone forgot to tell them this was a 42 and not a 65.
This boat was outfitted with the same big boat mindset and with what appears to be a no expense spared attitude pouring a ton of money into extras seldom found on a boat this size.
Although some of those upgrades have been in service over the boats life you will be hard pressed to find a boat of this size outfitted as well as this one.
If you are looking at comparable boats in this price and size range add the following to the price and the value of this boat is clear:
These are semi custom boats and this is a galley UP design.
This "mini-yacht" has been professionally maintained by all owners to a respectable standard and is one the best outfitted vessels of size and type to come to market in a quite some time.

This vessel boasts large yacht accommodations in a surprisingly modest sized package.
Combine this perfectly executed interior layout with rich yacht quality interior woodwork that is pleasing to the eye and warming to the soul, and you will find yourself aboard a vessel that is hard to say goodbye to. Drawing from the skills of highly trained craftsman that have spent generations perfecting their trade the interior joinery is truly first class. Exotic hardwoods are flawlessly blended together with ornate detailing and set off by highly varnished teak and holly soles yielding an interior fit and finish that rivals the work of today's top custom builders.
The two stateroom, two head layout offers wonderful accommodations for owners with plenty of privacy and accommodations for guests.
Vessel Walk Through: (Forward to Aft)
The Guest Stateroom is forward. The stateroom offers a large V Berth with filler, which is much preferred as it accommodates two guest separately or a couple desiring a shared berth. The Forward Head with a spacious separate shower is en-suite on the aft port side of the stateroom.
The Galley (UP) is located in the aft starboard side of the salon area. With the galley on the same level as the salon you can be a part of it all enjoying wonderful conversations, panoramic views, and cool breezes as you prepare your favorite meal. This U-shaped galley offers all the space required to prepare a proper meal for more than a few guests. It features a three burner stove with microwave/convection oven, double stainless steel sinks, Nova Kool 110v /12v refrigerator and freezer, and good counter-space.
The spacious Salon is located forward of the galley, two steps up from the forward stateroom, four steps down from the sundeck, and offers wonderful panoramic views from large salon windows creating an open airy feel and allowing wonderful natural light to fill the room. The L-shaped leather appointed settee mates to a removable dining table and comfortably seats 4 with additional seating optional. The addition of one or two stately club chairs would offer a comfortable place to sit and relax, and make a nice alternative to all fixed seating. Teak and holly soles are found throughout. A fully custom carpet overlay in the salon and staterooms protects the fine soles.
The Lower Helm station is located in a forward section of the salon to starboard just inside and forward of the opening wing door which is perfect for docking short handed starboard side to.
Down two steps and aft of the salon is the Master Stateroom. The stateroom features a walk-around Island Queen Berth that is sure to please anyone looking for proper sleeping accommodations. The endless number of drawers and lockers offers plentiful storage for long cruises and extended time aboard. Multiple opening ports, a large overhead hatch allow for wonderful ventilation and air flow. The washer dryer occupies one cabinet and is a very nice added amenity.
The Master En-suite Head features a separate shower stall, Vacu-Flush fresh water flush head, sink with storage below and an opening port-light.
Access to the large Aft Deck with custom railings, outdoor grill, and plenty of room for table and chairs is only four steps up, exiting the salon on the port side aft. Up a few more steps and you are standing on the expansive Fly Bridge with plenty of seating for eight or more and a commanding view. This traffic pattern is wonderful as one can easily traverse from the bridge to the salon or galley under cover the entire time shaded from the sun and protected from inclemate weather.
Designed for minimal upkeep, the exterior features aluminum window frames and stainless steel handrails with no exterior teak detailing. The hand laid-up fiberglass hull incorporates the highest quality laminates, resins and gel-coats with an epoxy coated bottom to resist blistering. The decks are foam cored. Full-keel stability, a fully protected prop, and bow thruster ensure concern-free travel.
Foredeck and Exterior Cabin:
The foredeck is easy to traverse and offers a good platform for performing anchoring procedures forward. Side decks are surprisingly wide and allow for ease of passage fore to aft. The non-skid is aggressive and offers excellent traction underfoot.
Aft deck and swim platform:
The aft deck is the ideal place to entertain outdoors. Enjoy lunch on the aft deck after a refreshing swim, and then gather again for dinner a few hours later watching the sun set brilliantly on the horizon. This is the pinnacle place for outdoor relaxation while at anchor.
The Fly bridge offers commanding views and great seating for guests. All four corners of the boat can be viewed from the helm seat which makes docking maneuvers a breeze.
Tender Motor and Davit System:
This is an amazing and very expensive tender system. It was custom designed for this boat and is rarely seen on a boat of this size due to the cost. The tender is deployed and retrieved with ease using the davit arm. It stores complete with engine attached securely on the aft deck which is perfect for offshore passages. No swinging on davits, flipping up on the stern, or hoisting 20' in the air to a hardtop, the tender is right there safe and secure on deck. This is a proper yacht tender and offers so much more than an inflatable with a hand steered pull start outboard.
Underwater Surfaces and Appendages:
A complete set of marine electronics, all in top working order, offers the navigator complete confidence underway and full controls mated with an appropriate sized bow thruster and superior visibility give the operator a reassuring sense of control and handling.
AM/FM/CD Stereo w/2 speakers & iPod interface
Lower helm station:
Each Raymarine depth sounder has its own transducer that are located on opposite sides of the boat. One depth appears on the Plotter one on the Depth Sounder display. They are almost 8 foot apart giving you depth on each side of the boat. If you begin to stray in the channel the two depths will let you know what side you should favor. This is a great help with a single engine boat with its greatest depth in the center of the boat.
The systems on this vessel have been maintained to high standards. Everything is labeled and easy to understand. Even the thru hull have engraved placards. The Sellers and previous owners have followed a rigorous maintenance schedule and have constantly upgraded systems with a philosophy that the mechanicals are the backbone of the the vessel and attend to them with care.
Even with the larger optional Cummins and added equipment the Engine room is wide open. Six full grown men could sit around the engine with the floor hatches down. Engine room access is provided via four large floor hatches or hinged steps in the forward stateroom. There is about 4' of headroom with the floor down and unlimited headroom with the floor up. There is 360-degree inspection and easy access to the engine propulsion and auxiliary components.
