Owner Statement and Additional Upgrades
In preparing the boat for Mexico, I added a Rocna 25 kg. anchor at the bow, plus I carry a Fortress aluminum anchor with chain at the stern. I added a removable inner forestay with hanked-on storm staysail to fit (it’s never been used). Ballard Sails in Seattle also made heavy cruising sails.130% furling genoa and full batten mainsail. Both are in great condition. These sails added approximately one knot to her sailing speed. Also purchased was a Northsails cruising spinnaker, in nearly new condition. Another upgrade is a Mastervolt 100 amp shore power charger that works wonderfully with the Honda eu3000i generator that lives permanently strapped on deck under a canvas cover. We make water at 20 gal/hr with a Cruise R/O watermaker which I installed. I placed a high flow bilge pump with float switch to augment the manual pump Beneteau provides. As we were still sailing in a cold climate, I installed a Webasto diesel forced air furnace which still fires up nicely. After arrival in Mexico we installed a Honeywell AC unit that keeps us cool and dry.
Manufacturer Provided Description
Designed by world-renowned naval architects, Groupe Finot, the Beneteau 42 CC is a classy bluewater passagemaker that features numerous standard innovations at a value price that is rather remarkable. The 42 CC entices the eye of the traditional yachtsman with the beauty of her striking classic transom. Never seen before in the Beneteau Center Cockpit series, this brand new design's sleek deck line creates a lean fetching profile while maintaining utmost functionality. On deck, the stylish hard dodger with opening windows provides extraordinary protection to the spacious center cockpit. Standard bulkhead steering opens up the cockpit making it extremely easy to entertain and maneuver about. The expansive aft deck is big enough to accommodate several lounge chairs and is perfect for relaxing while at anchor. One of the 42 CC's most interesting innovative features is found aft: a sliding section in the aft deck conceals a two-tread staircase leading to an exquisite boarding platform on the drop-down transom. While underway, the transom / boarding platform pulls up shut to form the classic transom. Like all Beneteaus, the interior of the 42 CC incorporates beautifully crafted cherry stained cabinetry and joinery. Large overhead panoramic deck lights flood the main salon with light and ventilation. The gourmet galley features plenty of storage for all cooking paraphernalia and has loads of counter space. The luxurious master suite is equipped with a comfy centerline berth, flanking settees for lounging, and a built-in dressing table. But perhaps one of the best features of the 42 CC is the incredible amount of storage throughout.
