1999 Teknicraft 65 Power Catamaran | Picking Daisies

This popular Nick De Waal-designed power catamaran has enjoyed a successful career as Fullers Ferry Tangaroa III, which was licenced to carry 165 passengers and four crew in New Zealand but has now been converted to a large and luxurious liveaboard custom vessel.

Built in 1999, Picking Daisies is astonishingly spacious with three levels of living space equipped with all the features to deliver carefree cruising.  There is also the potential to add more rooms and bathrooms if required.

Her full-sized galley includes a four-burner gas hob, gas oven, dual sink, pantry, full-sized refrigerator and a massive chest/freezer, and the galley overlooks a generous saloon  that befits the largest of homes with sumptuous sofas, a 6-seater dining room table, office area and room to furnish even further if desired! Over 80 square metres of new carpet has recently been laid that gives Picking Daisies a warm and inviting ambience.

The vessel features three cabins, including two spacious double cabins forward and a private master bedroom upstairs on the second level behind the helm. This central level offers limitless opportunities opening out onto an alfresco BBQ dining area, while the upper level boasts seating for eight guests with space to install an amazing open garden bar or whatever your cruising style demands!

Water is never an issue with the new 220 l/hr watermaker, which makes it easy to run the boat’s washing machine and dryer whenever required.

The skipper’s helm has everything you need, including radar, auto pilot and chart plotter, while the dual steering stations make parking and manoeuvring a breeze.

The bank of 12 x 315 watt solar panels provide endless power from the 16 lithium batteries, or you can run the Yanmar 27kva 240v generator when needed.

Anchoring is never a problem as the new Lonestar GX7 drum winch is attached to a massive 68 kg Manson anchor and 62 metres of 12mm chain plus 100 metres of rope for optimal peace of mind.

The engine room has ease of access to the twin MTU V12 M70 diesel engines that were replaced in 2008 and only have 5500 hours on them. Recently serviced including coolers, these engines deliver an economical cruise speed of 9 knots at 50 l/hr or 27 knots at 400l/hr with a maximum speed of 30 knots. The twin Hamilton Jet 391 units have also recently been overhauled, including new anodes.

A new 13ft Ali Tsunami tender with its 30hp outboard makes shooting out for a quick fish an easy proposition.

Some finishing is required but the potential is endless as a magnificent liveaboard power cat for cruising New Zealand and further afield, or you can put her back into survey and reap the rewards from the upcoming America’s Cup!
