Step onto a wide teak swim platform and through a hinged transom door into the cockpit. Seating is provided on a teak bench, folding chairs, and on top of a freezer box. A ladder leads up to a five person flybridge where you find two pedestal seats and a bench with full engine controls and electronics on a console forward. Moving forward from the cockpit you find wide side decks with rails that open to the foredeck. Side doors access these side decks from the helm and companion seat. Enjoy the beauty of classic teak decking on the cockpit, side decks, and foredeck where a herringbone kingplank accents the bow.
Step inside and stop for a moment to take in the richness and old-world craftsmanship that surrounds you. Everything is exquisite from the gloss varnish teak and holly sole and burled Yew wood table to the satin finish cherry and and wet bar. An L-shaped settee is to port and this converts to a double bed. The cherry table with burled Yew top can be moved and has a hidden, hinged leaf extension stored inside. To starboard is a lovely liquor cabinet with tambor doors, indirect lighting inside, and bottle and glass racks. This sits on a Corian counter with an integrated under counter sink. There is plenty of storage in the settee and lockers under the bar.
Forward to stbd is the helm console with full electronics and engine controls. There is a large Stidd seat and access to the side deck through a sliding door. To port is a second slightly smaller Stidd seat and access to the port side deck. Visibility is excellent from every spot with large windshields forward and side and rear windows that open with screens. Adjustable Levelor blinds provide privacy in the main salon.
Down three stairs you have a U-shaped galley to port which feels very spacious and bright with a cathedral ceiling effect of the windshield overhead. The cook is very much a part of the party here. Propane cooking, microwave convection oven, top and side access Frigiboat refrigeration, a double basin stainless sink and storage.
Across from the stove is a lovely sitting area with two comfy wicker chairs. The TV and entertainment center is here and this is a super place to have coffee in the morning or relax with a good book and cocktail in the evening.
The head is accessible from the reading area and also privately from the fwd owner's stateroom. Aft there is a Corian counter sink vanity with mirrored wall, and electric toilet outboard. Step forward into the stall shower which closes with a bi-fold acrylic door, has a hinged fiberglass seat, wet locker, and Grohe shower wand.
The Owner's Stateroom is forward and features a large Island berth with drawers under. There is so much storage in this cabin including a pantry, cedar closet, two lockers with shelves, and four aircraft style bins along the outboard overhead.
Hatches and opening ports keep the inside bright and airy and the wood and varnish of this quality is rarely seen in boats built today.
Lower Helm station:
The Mark Ellis design has a narrow deadrise forward which delivers a soft ride. There are hard chines which provide stability in a chop and efficiency by keeping the bow rise to a minimum and helping the boat onto a plane. A skeg on the centerline forms the bottom draft of the boat and helps with tracking - this boat is easy and fun to drive even in tough conditions. Under water exhaust helps reduce noise and reduces exhaust fumes when running at speed. Romance will cruise at 20 knots and top out around 25 knots however the Legacy hull is very comfortable at displacement speeds from 8 to 16 knots as well.
Romance is a beautiful boat - pure and simple. Health issues force the sale of this pride and joy. The boat will not launch this year until sold. Owners have cleared their gear off so everything on board goes with the boat. A three page list of engine and other services is available on request. Call today for an appointment.
