This Bristol Channel Cutter is Rare and Incredible!

Those of you reading this probably are familiar with the Bristol Channel Cutter, built by the Sam L. Morse Co until 2007 and now offered by Cape George Marine. If not, check all three Volumes of Ferenc Mate's "World's Best Sailboats." This beautiful Lyle Hess design is based on the English Pilot Cutters that were the work boats of bygone days. These Bristol Channel Cutters have been longed for, sought after, lusted after, and lived for. They are all beautiful and they sail quite fabulously. Some are just better equipped and maintained than others. There are a few types of BCC owners: 1) Those who sail! 2) Those who just work on them. 3) And those that outfit them to go, and do go. 4) Those that went!

It is an absolute pleasure to offer this very special BCC "Rocinante" for she is one of those lucky BCCs where the owners did it all! Lucky for you, no expense has been spared in outfitting and caring for Rocinante. All of the prior owners from the first to the fourth and current owners have invested their time and money and emotion in getting Rocinante ready for you! Rocinante is hull number 107, built in the prime time by the Sam L. Morse Co. Originally, she was called Little Wing. She was one of the most amazing BCCs ever built. The cabin sole was lowered an inch to make the headroom 6'2"! She has a diesel cabin heater. She is definately among the very best of the 66 BCCs we have sold. She is certainly among the most complete and most recently equipped BCCs ever to grace our oceans. After acquiring Little Wing when she was only 10 months old, the second owners, an architect and professional furniture maker, cared for her like their child while sailing in the Pacific Northwest. After 11 years of this love affair, the owners wanted to give the boat the adventure she deserved. So they prepared her properly with an extensive and expensive refit (Let's just say round to $100K). They set sail for the South Pacific and ultimately arrived in New Zealand where they sailed extensively with Lin and Larry Pardey. After the adventure Little Wing flew home on Dockwise to Ft Lauderdale, FL. and then to Annapolis MD, sailing capital of the East Coast where her owners lovingly put her into bristol shape! To put things in perspective this Bristol Channel Cutter has EVERYTHING.

Just to start, review below the Refit of 2007 which was completed by the second owners prior to their voyage to the South Pacific:

  • New Forespare tapered spar
  • New Standing rigging in 2007

  • New Running rigging

  • New lifelines

  • New rudder

  • New Communications: ICOM SSB, Pactor III modem, ICOM VHF

  • New Electronics: Raymarine E80 Radar with AIS and Chart Plotter with Depth Sounder (Bottom Contour)

  • New LED nav lights

  • New Alpenglow cabin lights (red and white with dual power)

  • New Hella fans

  • New Schattauer Sails

  • New Spectra Ventura Watermaker

  • New Technautics refrigeration system

  • New Wallace D30 forced air diesel heat

  • New tank tender

  • New PYI Dripless Shaft Seal and anti vibration coupling

  • New very serious engine spares: gaskets, hoses, raw water pump, fuel pump, old starter. injectors, two blade spare prop, filters (Everything!)

  • New Starter

  • New Alternator with smart Balmar regulator

  • New Lifeline batteries, which have since been replaced again in 2013

  • New 22lb Bruce anchor as secondary bow anchor (never used)

  • New Winslow 4 person liferaft, which was serviced and repacked in 2013

  • New Dodger, Bimini and canvas covers

  • New Anderson SS Winches

  • New Windvane steering system

  • New canvas boat covers, two! Winter and Summer with covers for all exterior wood.

In Annapolis, after returning from the South Pacific these past owners spared no expense, time, or effort to make this BCC completely perfect for her next owners. The interior and exterior woodwork has been refinished to the standards of a professional woodworker and boat lover. Every inch of the boat was made perfect at that time.

Happily the third owner never sailed the boat at all but loved and lavished her. He named her Rocinante as she is now called.

Her current owners bought her about nine years ago and fell in love with her. They had owned a Falmouth Cutter before and loved their Lyle Hess design. They kept Rocinante in Mystic CT for a few years as they started planning to take a sailing sabbatical. In 2013 and 2014 they sailed to the Caribbean to spend the cruising season. Returning to Charleston in for the summer of 2014 they have enjoyed local cruising. Now with a job transfer to Denver it’s time to give up the Bristol Channel Cutter. Lucky for you as she is a beautifully well maintained and well equipped BCC. We are so grateful they called us to represent them in the sale of this remarkable Bristol Channel Cutter, Rocinante. There has never been a BCC to come available that is equipped with everything imaginable as this boat is! Rocinante has everything! Everything works! All systems are proven. She is ready to go anywhere in the world. Right now!

There will never be an opportunity like this! Call now.
