This is truly a very desirable vessel due to its Gozzard reputation and classic lines.
Gozzard 44 Hull No 2
The vessel has an extremely clean interior, and uncluttered, ready to show. Brightwork shows very well, inside and out.
Makani could easily appear as a newer vessel inside as the owners kept her in very good condition- They have liveaboard and actively cruised to the Bahamas annually, and kept the boat in meticulous living condition.
Woodwork is exquisite, offering super living space with added bonus - a dive compressor installed for easy access for scuba enthusiasts!
Layout is perfect for a couple who entertains occasionally. Main salon may convert easily to additional sleeping accommodations as well as the quarter berth for guests!
The boat has been routinely serviced, with last annual haulout for bottom paint 2019, and last rigging inspection performed in 2019 .
Sails have been routinely inspected and serviced by owner as needed personally before their annual Bahamas passage .
All fresh water components were replaced, including fresh water tanks , fittings, hoses, faucets and valves .
Sellers desired a newer engine for added convenience of buying parts ....and larger genset for scuba in 2014.
A deal they could not refuse apparently.......which adds long term value to this wonderful boat.
Don't wait too long to retire or set sail....this Gozzard is a must see and is waiting for its next adventure!
This indeed will be a fantastic boat for the cruising enthusiast wanting a quality, blue water yacht!
A unique departure from your typical sailing yacht interior plan, Gozzard 44 was designed to maximize comfort for a couple with occasional guests.
Makani can sleep 6 persons: Master cabin, quarter berth , and main salon .
There is only one stateroom, a generous quarter cabin to port with a large berth, ample drawers and storage. Full length lockers hold various dive suits. Standing room is adequate for 2 adults to change in privacy.
The main salon is located where a forward stateroom is ordinarily found, and an open bulkhead enables an unobstructed view from the companionway steps all the way forward.
This converts amazingly with hinged folding panels to a private cabin to sleep 2 people, with 2 swivel adjustable chairs. Tons of storage!
There is a large nav station with full size chart table to starboard at the companionway landing with a quarter berth (currently used as storage area) aft.
The galley is forward of the nav station with island console . This sports a long fore and aft galley counter to starboard. Large opening cabinet swings out containing dishes, glasses, plates etc...
Across from the galley to port are two head compartments .
Please note one head has been converted with a generator and a dive compressor. Comode removed- plumbing in place still for future use if preferred.
The aft head is accessible from galley and main salon
Conveniently to starboard is a breakfast area for two.
The main salon offers a very large living space with port and starboard settees - extremely comfortable!
Huge living space for a 44 ft. sailboat!
The main salon also includes two large, very cozy swivel chairs and a large centerline coffee table . Chairs adjustable forward and back.
The coffee table converts to a large dinette when needed and the settee pivots together to form a queen size island for a guest berth.
Need privacy? A clever hinged panel and double hinged "closet" door converts this spacious main salon into a forward stateroom if needed!
The interior joinery is mahogany , cabin sole is teak and basswood. Beautifully well maintained as new. Ports recently resealed and clean.
Hatches sport screens. Brightwork very nice.
Engine and generator were replaced approximately 2014
due to circumstances to allow for a newer and stronger set up for diving.
Westerbeke 71-C4 HP engine 2200 hours
Westerbeke generator 5.7 installed in the head compartment for convenient access for the dive compressor.
In aft head, The shower stall has been customized to contain a Max Air Dive Compressor and various storage components for scuba usage.
Super idea for the dive/scuba enthusiasts......
Or, remove components and convert back to a full head.
S/V Makani has been home for over 10 years by a diligent cruising couple.
She has returned from the Bahamas in May and now for sale .
This vessel is in cruising / liveaboard mode - please call ahead for showings
Makani was never a "dock side queen" vessel sitting at the dock with dreams to be realized.
Makani and her current owners have lived the dream......and this Gozzard 44 ready for the next captain and crew waiting as a truly turn key vessel.
This couple has cruised annually, kept logs and maintenance records .
They have Catered to a cruising itinerary so their home was always "cruise-island " ready, she is kept clean, organized and tidy .
It is indeed a pleasure to show this very special sailboat.
Please note, current owners are dive enthusiasts and have customized a head to contain the 2014 Westerbeke generator ( 5.7 ) and dive compressor for easy access from the helm station.
They have full storage of wet suits in full size hanging lockers.
Their regulators will not convey.
Sellers are moving onto their "Land Yacht" to continue their adventures ashore.
