Sweden Yachts 50 sailing yacht designed by Peter Norlin and Jens Östmann and built by Sweden Yachts AB, Stenungsund, Sweden.
Sweden Yachts have an excellent reputation based on their build quality, sea worthiness and good sailing ability. This yacht has been well maintained and constantly updated durinng her current ownership.
The powerful Sloop/ Cutter Selden rig works well with her new sails (4 with 2 spare older North sails), an Bamar electric furler on the headstay makes light work of foresail handling.
Auxilary power is provided by a Volvo Penta TMD31 94Hp inboard diesell (with constant velocity joint), fitting with a Gori 3 bladed propeller. The engine benfited from a new turbo in 2017.
Other featues onboard this Sweden Yachts 50 include, 2010 bowthuster, hot/cold aircon, dual heating system, 2017 overhaul electric 5 kw generator, full electronic navigation instruments including radar, Raymarine chart-plotters and B&G autopilot, Navtec hydraulic pumps for backstay and boomvang.
Interior layout includes saloon with dining table for 8 persons, long sofa on SB side, complete galley with new 2016 4 burners stove and oven plus new refrigerator, 3 double berthed cabins with 2 complete heads. Great volumes in fore and aft lockers.

Ballast (lead) 6000kg
End grain balsa core sandwich using fiberglass mat and rowing on both sides gives a
light, rigid and well isulated hull. Balsa core is used from toe rail to below water line.
Solid laminate is used in hight stress areas around keel, mast foot and in the joint
between the hull halves. Bottom reinforcements are longitudinal and transversal solid
End grain balsa core sandwich with moudled fiberglass on both sides. Stress areas
where winches, sheet tracks etc. are fixed are renforced by replacing the balsa core
with marine plywood or by using s.s. backing plates and/or mixi washers.

Hull/Deck joining The hull is limited to the deck using glass and polyester. The toe rail is then bolted
through deck and hull flange using a special sealing material.
Ballast keel is lead casting with antimony. Cati-in keel bolts are of stainless steel. lifting
lug is fastened to the keel bolts.
The balance spade rudder is molded in fiberglass using rowing and mat for maximum
strength. The rudder stock is of stainless steel with three bearings, two ball bearings
and one bronze bearing at the skeg.
Integrated part of bottom reinforcement system ad filled with heavy ballast for maximum
Sweden Yachts’ designed and specially developed steel beam system, allowing heavy loads
to be taken by bulkheads without the need for additional internal reinforcements.
Galvanized mast step bolted to bottom reinforcemet.
Teak deck is laid form 12 mm first class teak ribs bonded to the deck with polyurethane
and secured by stainless steel scrwes. Expansion joints sealed by special silicone. Teak in
cockpit and on bridge deck.
Marine grade water proof polywood with pine and brich core faced with selected mahogany in frames and doors. Marine grade lauvan in bottoms, shelves etc. where not visible. All main bulkheads bonded to hull and deck using glass mat and polyester. All main visible hull sides covered by mahogany planking ribs. Ceiling, top-sides and minor visible hull sides padded with foam backed vinyl. Hillsides, bottom, bilge, etc. topcoated throughout the interior. Cabin sole is teak and holly. All mahogany as well as cabin sole is varnished in satin finish.

Queen size bouble berth to port side with cabinets along hullsibe. Drawers under

locker SB forward and aft. Specially made ”Dux” internally sprung matress.
Dinette arrangement with table port side. In centerline combined engine cover/extra
seats over engine compartement. SB side has 2 chairs with table between and cabinet
bookshelf, TV-and stereo space above.
Large navigation table with room for navigation utensils and drawer section below.
Separete chart stowage above electrical panel. Custom built electrical master panel
and panels for elecrical and elecronical instruments. Bookshelf and swiveling navigation
Sump drained to bilge, s.s. tubes for drying of clothes. Fan for ventilation to deck.
Starboard aft stateroom
Large double berth. Hanging locker to SB with cabinet in front. Across aft section
is a large cabinet and forward along the side is a bookshelf. Door to second head.
Port aft cabin
Large single berth and elevated single berth. Hanging locker port side with cabinet
in front. Door to second head.
Moulded bottom section drained by electic pump. Corian wash basin. Toilet and
shower. Mirror on doors to cabinet above wash basin. Cabinet below wash basin.
6 fixed aluminum framed windows and 2 openable and 2 openable windows in cabin trunk, 3
openable aliminum framed windows in cockpit.
2 large hatches to forward shower and salon, 2 medium size hetches to owner’s cabin and 2 small
hatches to aft cabins. Plexiglass companion-way sliding hatch.
4 Dorade ventilators, 3 electrolux ventilators. Engine air intel from mast. Engine battery compartment ventilated.
2 Lewmar no.66 S/T 2-speed genoa sheet winches. 1 Lewmar no.43 S/T 2-speed main sheet winches. 2 Lewmar no.46 S/T 2-speed halyard winches. 1 Lewmar no.40 S/T 2-speed reefing winches. 2 Lewmar no.16 S/T 2-speed main sheet car control. Aluminum toe rail bolted to deck-hull. 6 mooring bollards, 12 stanchion bases and tapered SS stanchions, pulpit, pushpit and ladder in SS, double lifelines, navigation lights, aluminum genoa tracks with 4 roller fairleads. 2 Bilge pumps. Double anchor roller. Main sheet track with slider and tag lines.
Custom made pedestal steering with 12” radial wheel, brake and stainless chain and wires. 48” stainless steel wheel.
Bolts, nuts, washers and screws used for fastening deck equipment are stainless steel. Sealing used between deck and equipement are polyurethane, silicone or specially developed material.
2 stern lockers (one SB and one port side)
Water capacity 700 L in 3 stainless steel tanks with individual level meters Filler lines
from deck. Tanks ventilated. Pressure water system hot and cold. Foot pumps in
pantry, shower arrangement in both heads. Filling and distribution hoses in reinforced
polyethylene. Hand holes for clean through hull with ball valve seacocks.
Gas bottle installed in separate drained compartement on deck. Copper tubing, reduction
valve for low pressure system, and shutoff valve close to each consumer. 3 burner
gas stove with oven, installed with Sweden Yachts developed fixed position-gimballed

Switchboard and control panel in navigation area. 3 ceiling lamps, 10 bulkhead spotlights,
6 tube lights, 4 locker lights, 1 navigators light, 3 fluorescent lights. 3x140
amp.hours marine batteries. 12V refrigeration for overhead fridge cabinet. 2 circuit
breakers.Electric meters for: water tanks, diesel tanks, freezer and fridge temperature

All hanging lockers equipped with aluminum tube with hooks, and wire baskets. Doors

heads. Waste holding tanks are standard.
Shower basins are drained by electric drainage pump operated by manual switch in
both shower compartmens.
Cushions in high quality foam with first class upholstery in a choice of colours, curtains
in velvet. Carpets are optional extra.
Bolts, nuts, washers and screws are generally stainless steel. House clamps are all
stainless steel. Through bottom fittings and other pipe fittings are brass. Hoses are
reinforced flexible PVC or polyethylene.

Alternators and batteries
14 V 50 amp alternator charging the 12 V electric system used for engine
start. One 12 V 140 amp.hrs battery is separate and for engine start only.
Blocking diodes are used for simultaneous charging of all circuits. 28 V 50
amp alternator charging the house system with 2 batteries giving 140 amp.hrs
at 24 V.
2 bow thruster (1 SB and 1 port side) driven by an electric engine.
Seldén silver anodized alloy oval section (274x185 mm). Tripple spreaders in aluminum.
All halyards are internal. Spinnaker pole track and mast fully prepared
for spinnaker equipment. Appropriate blocks and exits for halyards. Sound
Seldén silver anodized alloy oval section (206x139 mm). slab reef system and
outhul internally in boom with stoppers and central winch. Seldén tubular racing
Wire rigging: Forestay 12 mm, top shrouds 12 mm, upper intermedia 8 mm, lower
intermedia 10 mm, lower shrouds 14 mm, backstay 12 mm, babystay 8 mm and
running backstay 8 mm. All turnbuckles are Lloyd’s approved Hasselfors forged
stainless steel or bronze.
