A beautiful vessel custom built by Bradley Dawson of Dawson Yacht Carpentry as his personal vessel from a Bingham design. Lovingly cared for and upgraded by the current owner for the past 18 years.
DARK STAR was constructed as a custom one-off by a very knowledgeable marine carpenter/builder. All of the workmanship and materials were and are of the highest quality and better than most factory built vessels. The interior features cane ventilation on all lockers, beautiful laminated oak/ mahogany deck beams ( see photos) mahogany drip rails/hand holds below the opening ports, an oak batten staving hull liner with full insulation between the staving and the hull.
While in appearance somewhat similar to a Bristol Channel Cutter or a Pacific Seacraft Orion, Dark Star is a unique, one of a kind vessel.
As you can see from the photos Dark Star receives admiring looks and questions as to her origin whenever she enters a harbor.

The entire deck was was recalked with Teak Decking Systems Calk in 2017. At that time the deck was refastened with 2" bronze Fearson headed screws set in epoxy and all the deck bungs were replaced at the same time and set with epoxy.

Dark Star has a private V-berth forward which will comfortably sleep 2. The V-berth has a privacy door.
Moving aft the head is to port (also with a door). The marine toilet was rebuilt in 2017. There are storage lockers to starboard across from the head
Further aft is the main cabin with a settee to starboard which can be used for a sea berth while underway or as a guest berth There is a small dinette seating 2 people facing fore and aft to port across from the settee. The table has a full size pullout leaf to enable seating on the settee berth so that four can dine in comfort.
The galley is aft of the dinette to starboard at the companionway. The galley features a microwave oven, a pressurized kerosene 2 burner stove with an oven. There is a one gallon stainless steel fuel tank feeding the stove under the sink.
There is an ice box with Norcold refrigeration and a double sink with a custom teak drain board and custom fitted cutting board. The dishwasher has a choice of using a hand pump or electric pump for delivering fresh water to the sink.
There is a 7'6" quarter berth with a hanging locker aft to port.
