Brewer 44
"A rare combination of Ted Brewer's classic sailing yacht design and Fort Myers Yacht and Shipbuilding's quality craftsmanship.
... Our quality construction exceeds Lloyds specifications and the 44's performance is designed for those who never accept anything less than the very best. The signature of Ted Brewer's innovation and Fort Meyers Yacht and Shipbuilding, Inc's creativity is evident everywhere.
We take great pride in our Brewer 44 owner's list which includes many past Hinckley owners, naval architects and past championship racers." ~ Brewer 44 Brochure
History of Brewer 44 - Rosa dos Ventos
Rosa was the second to last Brewer 44, hull number 304, built in 1989 at the Fort Meyers Boat Yard in Florida. The current owners bought her in 2010 and are the fourth owners. The previous owner was an electrical engineer and owned Rosa dos Ventos for 12 years and had taken good care of her.
The current owners sailed her on Lake Champlain from their home in Vermont before departing south down the Champlain Canal and the Hudson River. The owners subsequently cruised extensively with her in the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and up the west coast of Central America ending up in La Paz Mexico. From La Paz they had her shipped back to Fort Lauderdale Florida in May 2020 and sailed her back to Maine.
During their southern cruising years she was hauled for hurricane season at boat yards chosen for safe location as well as boat repair and maintenance expertise. The sellers have kept an active maintenance schedule while also making some major improvements such as the stainless steel arch for solar and wind, as well as adding locations on the arch for antennae, LPG tanks and a life raft.
The owners say Rosa dos Ventos has been a delight to live aboard and to sail. She is sea kindly and handles well in rough weather, yet also has ample room for socializing and welcoming friends and family for cruising.
