Once the flagship of the Hatteras fleet, the 58 is a Jack Hargrave-designed classic whose lines are as attractive today as when they were first penned, and Journey is an outstanding example of the breed; she's also one of the rare wide bodies (in production from 1985-1987, only about 30 were built).
She's been extensively renovated ($200,000 reportedly spent on her in 2012-13, plus new carpet, chartplotter, television and sound system, batteries and refrigerator since then) and professionally decorated with custom fabrics and solid teak & holly floors and an updated galley and shows bristol, but the real story here might be the slip: she's lying downtown Sausalito in a potentially transferable Sausalito Yacht Harbor slip; there's waiting list of many years for a big slip in the marina here and Journey is in a primo spot right on the main turning basin with San Francisco sunrise and Mt. Tam sunset views.
Note that a boat with a big transferable slip in San Francisco recently sold for about a MILLION DOLLARS OVER actual value JUST to get the slip, and our weather is WAY better over here!

Enter though the port or starboard pilothouse doors to the lower helm bench seat, you are immediately impressed with the excellent condition and tasteful decoration of this classic yacht's interior. The main salon is aft of the lower helm and was re-decorated in 2010 with the finest fabrics, with new carpet installed in 2016; updates in 2004 included beautiful navy ultra-suede on the couch, new valances and custom drapes and blinds. The salon is comfortably furnished with a large L-shaped sofa, coffee table, two chairs, and a 50" flat screen TV with DVD/CD stereo.
Aft of salon is the large, fully enclosed and comfortably furnished aft deck, considered by most to be the best spot on the boat! In 2010 new furniture and carpet were added, with new isinglass and canvas reportedly installed in 2013.
Forward and down a curved staircase from the lower helm is the completely redecorated galley. The beautiful teak and holly floors (2004) are rich and inviting, and lovely new granite countertops with a custom backsplash and custom dinette were installed in 2013; a new refrigerator/freezer was installed in 2016 and the DACOR 4-burner electric stove top/convection oven with broiler, new GE dishwasher and a custom china cabinet were installed in 2010 so the galley has been totally redone over the years; though the work was done at different times it feels totally unified today.
Forward and down two steps from the galley is the guest stateroom with teak & holly sole, bunk beds (top is custom full, bottom is a twin), ample storage and a full en suite head with stall shower.
Aft down three steps aft is VIP stateroom to port with guest head (with stall shower) and over/under washer/dryer starboard, then companionway (with wing doors to engine rooms port and starboard) running all the way aft to the master stateroom.
The master stateroom is more what you'd expect on a 70' yacht, it's by far the largest in its class. Note custom teak & holly sole, walk-in closet (plus PLENTY of other storage), king size bed with custom mattress, and lovely en suite head with separate stall shower.
