ANCALLIA combines the timeless lines of a modern classic Feadship with a sophisticated, entirely new interior, state-of-the art machinery and systems, which incorporate the technologies, amenities and finish comparable to a recent pedigree new build.

Since her relaunch in late 2014, ANCALLIA has had low useage and has been maintained to the highest standards by her experienced crew.

ANCALLIA is now offered for sale in immaculate condition and is truly a unique offering in the market.

HISTORY

ANCALLIA, Yard Number 750 of the Royal Van Lent Feadship Yard, was delivered in 1984 to her original owner who was from Chicago/Florida. He named her BRIDLEWOOD,  after a property development in Florida he had recently completed of the same name and also a horse ranch he owned.

BRIDLEWOOD was sold in 1994 to a Californian owner, who was in the hair care business. She was renamed DREAMSEEKER and the yacht was active and well known in the charter market in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

The yacht was sold in 2005 to a businessman from Florida who kept the name DREAMSEEKER and based her in Florida/ the Caribbean. He sold her in 2009 to the present owner, a ship owner.

REBUILD 2011-2014

After acquiring ANCALLIA in 2009, after initially planning a moderate refit, the decision was made by her highly experienced superyacht owner to rebuild and he and his advisors who then spent a great deal of time planning a total rebuild that started in 2011.

The work was carried out at the Atlas Yard in Perama, Greece, who are experienced at refits/rebuilds of pedigree yachts, in a three year period between 2011-2014,. She was stripped to a bare shell including the removal of the entire interior (guest/crew/operational) and machinery/systems, and replaced with entirely new interior (guest/crew/ operational), new machinery, electrical, technology, plumbing, teak decks, deck ware, tenders & water toys, a very high tech bridge and new windows. A much more aesthetically pleasing stern and integral swim platform was installed, that allows easy water access for guests, yet when the stern door closes conceals the stairs to preserve her classic Feadship lines. A new mast was designed and installed to accommodate the modern communications equipment.

All that remains of the original yacht was the bare hull and superstructure which both had significant works in any case to ensure ‘as new’.

The sophisticated new interior was designed by the renowned Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler Ltd of London and the designers Dominic Skinner and Michael Kirschstein were also involved to assist with some elements of the interior and exterior design.

As set out in the specification, the quality of the machinery installed was of the highest order, comparable to a Feadship new build today, indeed many of the same suppliers were used, for instance Van Driel for the tender cranes and Akerboom for the passerelle. The naval architecture as well as lead supervision was by Navinco of Piraeus, who have significant experience in refitting Feadships/others to very high standards.

In addition, there were external supervision by Michael Ahrens of Yacht Affairs (formerly of Abeking & Rasmussen), and consultation with Burness Corlett Three Quays and Feadship themselves.   The management department of the owner’s shipping office and the owner himself also followed the project very closely. The result of all of this supervision is exceptional attention to detail.

The owner wished to achieve RINA Green certification. She actually scored 84 points spread over 8 categories which was enough to get ‘Green Plus Gold’. This was thanks to efficient new cooling and lighting systems, bilge and grey water treatment systems, a very efficient oil collection system and latest catalytic converters for the exhausts. ANCALLIA was the first rebuild yacht to earn the RINA ‘Green plus Gold’certification.

The result of the rebuild is that ANCALLIA is now technically, aesthetically and has amenities that are fully up to date and comparable to a recently launched pedigree yacht, within her original timeless modern classic Feadship style.

In recognition of the quality of her rebuild, ANCALLIA was awarded, against stiff competition, Best Rebuilt Yacht 2015 in the World Superyacht Awards. These awards are a rigorous process of evaluation/inspection by a panel at Boat International and a selection of experienced owners.
