Hunter Marine was started in 1973 in Alachua, Florida, and has been a major force in the sailboat industry. Thanks to their build quality and innovations, their models were extremely well received.
The Hunter 34 is no exception – this was one the most revolutionary designs ever produced by Hunter Marine. Hunter 34’s also incorporated a number of engineering improvements which have created a craft of greater reliability and enhanced performance for both cruising and racing.
Like all newer Hunter sailboats, the 34 offers an unparalleled list of amenities for complete comfort and convenience. She features a large cockpit with pedestal steering, a fully equipped galley, fore-and-aft facing dinette, a head with shower, chart table, spacious stowage, and a spacious seven berth, two cabin layout. She features a roomy forward stateroom and a second aft stateroom. It is designed to provide comfortable living space for two couples, and there is extra bunk space provided by the dinette and bench seat.
Hunter 34’s are a fast boat, particularly upwind and in light airs. In fact, with her huge, powerful rig in winds of 7-12 knots she is known to be practically unbeatable in Club Racing and a joy to sail.
This example for sale is an extremely well maintained and cared for Hunter 34. The seller has owned her since 2006 and had intended to sail her for another decade. With that goal in mind, she has undergone an extensive refit in recent years, the price of which exceeds asking price. Circumstance changed, and now she is available for sale.
In 2017 she was re-powered with a new Beta Marine 25hp engine, and a new 3 blade folding Gori prop. In 2016 all exterior wood work was refinished, and new life lines installed. She has a new spray dodger, new sail cover, a new mainsail in perfect condition, new furling genoa, and two used cruising spinnakers with dousing sock. All standing rigging was replaced in 2006.
The interior is "cruise" ready, with varnished teak trim with teak and holly cabin sole. In 2017 she received new upholstery and foam throughout, with memory foam in the owners cabin, new head, new shower gulper pump, new bilge pump. A new diesel heater, new propane sensor and propane tank, new starter and two new house batteries, and a new solar panel with controller all installed in 2015. The fuel tanks were polished and a new stereo in 2014.
She had her hull stripped down to the barrier coat, new dripless shaft seal, and in 2006.
Equipment includes GPS, depth sounder, radar, anemometer, VHF radio, bluetooth stereo, electric windlass, 2 anchors, 125' 3/8 chain, and 200' rode. She also includes dan buoy, life ring, rescue collar, spare lines, fenders, mooring lines and three high quality folding padded cockpit seats to round out safety and comfort.
She makes an excellent family boat being very spacious and stable and would also make a great family race boat. All the major systems have been replaced in recent years and she is turn key, ready for the next owner to enjoy her many features and upgrades.
An assumable moorage at Sewells Marina in Vancouver is available which makes a great moorage, cheaper than other area marinas and a great location for sailing Howe Sound and transiting the Strait of Georgia.
