The Moody 27 was in production between 1981 and 1985. In that time there was 162 built and was the predecessor to the Moody 28. They were initially built by Marine Projects in Plymouth as this particular model was and designed by the very clever and forward thinking Bill Dixon.
This is the bilge keeled version which is ideal for exploring our shallower estuaries and creeks. This gives so much more flexibility to our travels and allows over night stays in drying harbours and anchorages at what are more favourable rates.
She is in good condition and below decks is warm and welcoming. The yacht can sleep 5 at a push with a generous double cabin in the bow, two singles in the saloon and a large pilot/quarter berth aft.

All lines are led aft to the helm via a series of deck organisers and turning blocks.
Sails include a slab reefing main by Crusader with two reefing points. This is mounted on the boom and has a protective cover.
There is a roller furling genoa by Crusader with a UV strip. Also included is a cruising gennaker but this has not been used during present ownership.
Below decks is warm and inviting. The combination of wood and dark fabrics make this space a welcoming place to be. The yacht can sleep 5 with ease with a double berth in the forward cabin, 2 singles in the saloon and a large single aft next to switch panel.
The saloon is entered from the cockpit via two steps incorporated into the engine housing. There is a galley to starboard with stainless steel sink, hand pumped fresh water, top loading cool-box and a Flavel Vanessa gas oven with two burner hob and grill.
Opposite the galley is the large heads compartment with sea toilet and wash hand basin. The main saloon has a central table with drop leaves. This area is large enough to sit 6 persons and the settees double as berths. A bi-folding door leads to the forward cabin with double berth and infill. All upholstery is finished in a dark brown soft fabric.
Plentiful natural light from the port lights and deck hatches. There is 12V lighting throughout.
