Aurora was built for the owner of Valiant Yachts, Nathan Rothman, as his personal boat. Nathan Rothman teamed up with the well-known cruising/racing boat designer Robert Perry to create the Valiant 40 line. Valiant 40’s are proven vessels for crossing oceans or sailing inland and coastal waters in absolute comfort. She was built in Bellingham, WA by Uniflite Corp and launched in 1981. She has a solid fiberglass hull and a fin keel with a skeg hung rudder. The decks are fiberglass over marine ply, bulkheads are also marine ply. The Cap Rails are Teak and the varnish is in very good condition. The Rudder is fiberglass with a foam core. The boat is designed to point well upwind, feel solid driving through rough seas and to be stable in heavy seas. Valiant 40’s are the ultimate cruising vessels!

The decks are easy to maneuver fore and aft with the external chain plates and stays that keep the side decks clear and a flat house roof which makes for easy and stable maneuvering around the mast. The cockpit is large and comfortable with wheel steering that folds up for maneuvering around the cockpit when not underway.
