The Meridian 31 is derived from an original Hurley 9.5 design by GJ Collier, and Monkey Business was built by Swanick Marine in 1981.
A classic long keel motor sailer she has a large semi enclosed wheel shelter and deep cockpit that can be fully enclosed with the additional cockpit cover. With comfortable accommodation, she ticks all the boxes.
The hull has been epoxied and the present owner tells me she sails well. Equipped with adjustable yacht legs she will take the ground if required.
The standing and running rigging was replaced in 2017. All electrics overhauled in 2015. The decks and cockpit benefit from the application of TEC DECK, applied 2006.
The hull has been osmosis treated and epoxied, The Mercedes diesel engine has been regularly serviced.
The wheelhouse has a comfortable seat for the helmsman, plus additional bench seating and a table. The additional cockpit cover creates a fully enclosed space offering protection from the weather.
Down below the comfortable saloon has u shaped seating and a table. The arrangement is open plan with the forecabin open to the saloon, creating a feeling of space.
There are six berths available in total, two located forward , a double in the saloon and a separate double berth is located in the owners cabin aft. The heads compartment with wash basin and hot and cold water is situated on the starboard side of the saloon. Hot water is provided by a calorifier/immersion heater.
The owner's cabin is both spacious and comfortable with a double berth and an additional small settee. It is accessed from the central cockpit.
