The Union Polaris 36 Cutter is a go anywhere, blue-water boat! The Union Polaris was designed by Bob Perry and built by Union Yacht Company. The design is nearly identical to the Han Christian 36 and Mariner Polaris 36 and a larger version of the Hans Christian 34. They’re solid, proven and built to go cruising!
This Union Polaris 36 Cutter, Windekind, has been extremely well-maintained throughout her life inside and out, and she’s ready to go sailing! The current owner was a maritime instructor at Aventura Sailing School (CA) and taught for the USC Sailing Program (CA). The boat is in great condition and very clean!
She’s powered by a Volvo MD17C 37HP with only 835 Hours (Rebuilt in 2008) and gets regular engine servicing, every 6 months. The engine burns about 1/gallon/hour of Diesel running at 6 knots. Her House and Starter Batteries were new in 2015. All the varnish and wood work on deck is in very good condition and the decks are well laid out. The external chain plates keep the decks clear for maneuvering easily fore and aft. The cockpit is gorgeous, comfortable and well-designed for safety with high cockpit combings, to stay dry underway, and stout life lines connecting to the stainless steel push-pit astern for storage or relaxing upon. The Dodger is in very good condition as well as the Weather Clothes, Sail Bags and Main Boat Cover. The cockpit cushions are also in very good condition and match the interior upholstery.
Down below is also very clean, well-maintained and roomy with a U-Shaped Galley to Port with a 2-Burner Stove and Oven, well insulated Ice Box, Microwave, Double Stainless Sink with Pressure Hot and Cold Water, Toaster Oven as well as lots of counter space and storage. The Navigation Station is to Starboard with a Garmin Chartplotter/Knotmeter/Depth Sounder, Raytheon Radar, Oceanus VHF Radio and AC/DC Electrical Panel. Aft of the Navigation Station is a large Quarter-berth. Forward of the Galley in the Salon is a U-Shaped Dinette that drops to a large double berth. To starboard is a long settee/berth with lots of storage in and around the Salon in cabinets, cubbies and under the settees. Forward of the Salon is a Hanging Locker and storage to starboard and a Head to Port with lots of light and storage. The area just before the main cabin and between the Head and the Hanging locker to starboard is a shower stall with a teak grated floorboard for drainage. A shower curtain is hung and the water drains to a shower sump that goes overboard. The V-berth in the main cabin is large with lots of storage along the sides of the berth and the cabin has a very warm, cozy feel.
This Union Polaris 36 Cutter has been extremely well maintained and taken care of. The owners are selling for health reasons after 10 years of ownership. She’s is their pride and joy and the next owners will greatly benefit from all their efforts and appreciation of the boat. Windekind is ready for her next adventurers!
