Check out the classic lines of this sweet boat! Willam Lapworth, "Gentleman Bill" had more early offshore sailing experience than many boat designers. His Cal 40, was considered a daring design, and won most of the races in the early 70s. The CAL 39, introduced in 1971, was one of the first defining "Performance Cruisers", and the boat remained in production thru 1986. A well-balanced boat with a fast keel, big spade rudder, stiff rig and generous accommodations, the Cal 39 is a very sweet sailing boat, and modest live-aboard.
"Many 39s have been retrofit into serious cruisers and owners rave about the sea-kindly motion and good turn of speed. The powerful hull shape can carry sail in a blow and can also be loaded up with stores without sacrificing too much performance. The Cal 39 is an ideal boat to consider for long-range cruising, especially if your budget is under $60,000 and you don?t want to sacrifice good sailing"....John Kretschmer, Sailing Magazine
This high-quality performance cruiser is in very good condition. Someone is going to get a great boat!
If you are looking for a great sailing, Lapworth design, that will fit in a 40' slip, this one, could take you there! You could be sailing on your own big boat.
