This is a boat to see! Al Mason design from Pacific Asian Enterprises (makers of Nordhaven Yachts). Built in 1979 in Ta Shing, Taiwan, the craftsmanship is extraordinary. Hull #9 of the Mason 43s, a beautiful example of a classic sailing yacht. Full displacement hull, 3/4 keel, ketch rig (rare) this is a true sailors sailboat. It has a hank-on jib and standard main and mizzen. An electric windless on the anchor, emergency radio, gps and radar. The Mason line of boats is highly sought after by blue water cruises. This vessel has sailed big water from its previous owner as far out as Thailand. Known for their bulletproof hulls, Al Masons yachts hold their own against other classic yacht builders. Al Mason was a naval architect for all three Aldens, Stephens, and Rhodes and cut his teeth building wooden racing yachts. This Mason 43 is a replica of Al Masons famous wood design made in fiberglass.
Entire bottom redone down to gel coat in 2015.
The deck was re-caulked in 2016.
In 2019 a Natures Head composting toilet was installed.
The original Jabsco hand pump head and holding tank are still in place and functional. Owner added the composting head in the shower. As a live aboard sailor I did not use my shower and did not want to fuss with a holding tank.
Isotherm Cold plate refrigerating unit installed as well as an Isotherm water heater. All done in 2019.
The boat is powered by a Perkins 4.108. The engine is currently not operational, Heat exchanger was removed, exhaust elbow & belt. Parts in hand. The engine was running great before the heat exchanger went bad. Owner did have not had time to install it and get the engine running again, due to the pandemic finding a mechanic is nigh impossible. The Perkins 4.108 is a mule of an engine with great longevity.
