Bayfield Boat Yard Ltd., on the southeast shore of Lake Huron, Ontario, began producing the Bayfield 30 in 1973. US dealers insisted on calling the boat a "32" based on its LOA which included the clipper bow and sprit, so the boat later became known as the Bayfield 32. Designed by Ted Gozzard, it blends traditional design and modern construction, a combination that made the boat popular from the start. More than 300 Bayfield 32s were launched during a long production run.
The seller of this Bayfield 32 has just finished a 5 year re-fit, investing close to $100k, and it shows. From being restored back to the original cutter rig, to upgrading and re-building the steering system, to having the decks professionally refinished and painted, this boat is ready to cruise comfortably and safely.
Some of the recent upgrades include new mainsail, new staysail and new yankee/ genoa, new standing and running rigging, new blocks, new deck hardware and clutches. In the cockpit, a modern chartplotter/ depth sounder is mounted on a handsome binnacle and custom made teak cockpit table with a new VHF, with switches for all external LED lights easily in reach. The Yanmar diesel inboard has had extensive work done, and is ready to go!
This Bayfield 32 is another example of why there's no excuse not to get out on the water. This sturdy, handsome, quality cruiser is an ideal family boat that will provide drama-free sailing for years to come. With its shallow draft, cutaway full keel and traditional lines it makes an excellent and stable cruising boat.
