The Hinckley 38 is a nice combination of a more contemporary underbody while retaining the classic good looks of the Hinckley family of sailboats. This particular yacht has had significant upgrading including a new engine, new fuel and water tanks a few years back, New 130% sail this spring and many other items, but after most of these updates she has had very little use. A limited Hull and Deck Survey has been completed and is available for review.
ANNIE is number 21 of the Hinckley 38’s, designed by Sparkman and Stephens as a cruiser/racer. She has been setup for single-handed sailing, has raced twice to Bermuda, cruised around Newfoundland, and has cruised the coast from Maine to Savannah, Georgia (and back). Every system has been upgraded or replaced, with a new engine, Awl gripped hull, new winter cover (but stored indoors for many of the recent years), and ready for many additional coastal or blue water adventures.
Accommodations for up to six in varnished Philippine Mahogany interior with varnished teak and holly soles. Seven smaller ports and four large fixed ports along with two very large hatches with screens provide natural light and ventilation with additional light provided by overhead lamps in work spaces and swivel style reading lamps at the berth and settees.
Starting forward is the private forward cabin with offset double berth to port and dressing seat to starboard. There is storage in lockers and drawers under and in a bureau aft of the berth and in shelves above the berth.
Continuing aft is the enclosed head to port with thwart-ship vanity with stainless steel sink and hot and cold pressure water. The manual w.c. is plumbed via a Y valve to the holding tank. The shower is an en suite affair and drains to a separate sump.
Opposite the head are two large hanging lockers and additional storage at the forward end of the Salon which features a straight settee above and outboard of which there is a pilot berth while opposite there is a U-shaped dinette (varying from the layout drawing) which makes down to a double berth should occasion require.
The Galley runs thwart ships with a large well insulated ice box to starboard the Formica top of which also serves as a navigation station. Opposite is a single basin stainless steel sink and Shipmate 3 burner propane stove and oven.
