SUMATRA is Hull #76 of the 39' Concordia yawls, originally built in 1960. Damaged in Hurricane Bob, she was extensively and lovingly rebuilt by her present owner at the Concordia Boat Company in South Dartmouth, MA. All the work was done as close to the original specs as possible including the installation of all new hardware and equipment. At the end of the refit, a full survey was done by Donald Linde, a well-known marine surveyor in New England and he found all repairs and the vessel to be in excellent condition. She has been lightly sailed and well cared for since the refit. SUMATRA is in very nice condition.
7/8" African Mahogany carvel planking over 1 1/2 x 1 1/4" steam bent, laminated oak frames on 9" centers. Silicon bronze fastenings. White hull, navy blue boottop, green bottom. New fiberglass over plywood decks, painted gray. Varnished ask tiller in self-bailing cockpit. 7,700 lbs of external iron ballast. Extensive structural refit by Concordia Yacht Co. in 1994 includes: New stern post, new upper section of the stem, new transom, new sheer planks, new cabin top planks-fiberglass covered, new covering boards and toerails, some new topside planking at random (about 25), new rudder. New main decks of fiberglass over mahogany plywood, awlgripped light gray. New cockpit coamings and winch islands with new bronze self-tailing sheet winches. Further, new custom bronze bow pulpit and stern rail were installed, new stanchions and double lifelines added where needed, a new Ideal anchor windlass with anchor roller and Hawse pipe were installed. New bronze ovalportlights installed, all hatches were rebuilt. New bronze seacocks were installed on all thru-hull fittings. All electronics were replaced in 1994. (all laminated oak frames in vessel were found to be in A-1 condition in 1994 by the marine surveyor) In 1997, a new deck beam under mizzen mast was replaced.

Fuel - 25 gallons in one tin-lined copper tank.
Water - 60 gallons in two tin-lined copper tanks.
Holding Tank - 17 gal S/S tank with y-valve and macerator pump.
For 4. The forward cabin has the standard Concordia layout with chain locker forward by vee berths. The enclosed head is next aft to Port with stowage cabinets, Wilcox Crittenden with holding tank, macerator pump and y-valve. Opposite to starboard are hanging lockers with shelves. The main salon is next aft, with the traditional Concordia berths, port and starboard, dropleaf table on centerline, and new Luke soapstone fireplace forward to port. The galley is aft with new quarter sawn maple countertops, a S/S sink, a Luke Heritage 2 burner propane stove and oven with 12v Mar-gas shot off. (Propane bottles are in an approved cockpit starboard seat locker). Also, there is a top loading S/S lined ice chest. Interior is finished in the traditional "Concordia Way" with varnished cedar bulkheads, varnished oak deck beams and a teak cabin sole. The berth cushions are covered in dark green corduroy.
671 sq. ft sail area. 7/8's fractional yawl rig. The following was new in 1994: boom, mizzen mast and boom with new spreaders for main and mizzen. New jumper struts for mizzen and new spinnaker pole, Bronze and locust boom gallows. All standing and running rigging was upgraded and renewed, Ocean size 2 traveler system for mainsheet.
Jiffy reefing on mainsail with Lewmar #8 bronze winch. Schaefer roller furling onheadsail , shroud rollers. Mainmast is original.
Mainsail, Genoa, Working Jib for club boom, Mizzen, Cruising Spinnaker with sock, Mizzen Staysail, all with sail covers. Also Storm jib and Storm trysail.
