S...T...R...E...T...C...H...E ...D for speed. Broomstick was launched in 1990 as Open 60. She sailed in Vendee Globe and Around Alone races until her Russian solo skipper sold her in Sydney. The new owners, in consultation with designer Kel Steinmann, lengthened her to 66ft and gave her a big carbon-masted sail plan. She's quick; eighth to finish in the 2002 Hobart race and sniffed gunsmoke in a passage race at Hamilton Island Race Week, 2003. | ||
