Completed in 1982, Cordelia's launching attracted considerable media attention. When builders, Langtry Engineering commenced the ambitious project, she was the largest GRP hull in the world. A solid 40 mm thickness throughout, recent scanning of the hull by ultrasounding returned results of a quality superior to modern builds, and was the best hull the Italian technicians had ever tested.

A design collaboration of Ben Lexcen (who a year after Cordelia's launch would become the designer who broke the USA's 157 year stranglehold on the America's Cup), and Joe Adams, rigged with the spare mast of Gretel 3, and the sistership to the legendary 1982 Sydney to Hobart Race winner, Helsal, Cordelia represents many of the strong points of Australian yachting of the time - quality, strength, and innovation.

Large flush foredeck, spacious pilot house/navigation area, centre cockpit and canoe stern with over specification build and machinery throughout, she is a go-anywhere, comfortable, safe large compliment passage-maker, on which one is equally at home scuba diving in remote South Pacific atolls or strolling ashore down the teak passarelle whilst berthed stern to in any tiny, romantic Mediterranean harbour. Fuel tankage of 2500 litres, water tankage of 1500 litres and watermaker allow for an independant cruisng range under engine only of minimum 2500 nms.

Extensive up-dating and re-fitting in New Zealand (2003) and Myanmar (2005) have resulted in an outstanding vessel with 15 mm teak deck which will last her lifetime ( including the integral, one piece 23 ft King-plank ), and a spacious, comfortable interior with all necessary modern amenities - large, professional quality galley, with considerable storage, refrigeration and freezer capacity, and dishwasher, allow the food enthusiast or professional full opportunity to create. Reverse cycle air conditioning throughout, BMW quality leather salon, two twin berth cabins with ensuite bathrooms and spacious master cain with double bed, desk, and day berth/banquette.

Accomodations for 3 crew. Hydralic furling and 4 x hydralic winches enable an ease of sail handling for a yacht of this size and strength.

Two tenders - a 14 ft fibreglass cathedral hull with new 30 hp Evinrude Etec and a wooden Spindrift sailing tender with 4 hp outboard. Both easily craned aboard and stored on the aft deck, leaving the large flush foredeck free for guest use.

Her accolades include winning the Kings Cup, Thailand (2006), Phuket Superyacht Regatta ( 2007 ), the Cat 1. Hong Kong to San Fernando Race in Class and Overall ( 2007 ) and the Borneo Regatta Ocean Race (2007 ).

Her hull of distinctive and gracefully swept lines never fails to attract the attentions of the seasoned sailor or amatuer yacht-spotter. Thoughtful design and commissioning of the common areas has line of sight and communication from and between the large cockpit, navigation area, down to the galley and into the salon creating a volume and intimacy rare in a yacht of this size. Ample deck hatches and hull portlights allow for a light interior of white surface and teak flooring throughout and vision to the exterior from all interior points.

The interior spaciousness is continued and enhanced with the considerable above deck spaces affording privacy and solitude should one wish, and full covers and deck furniture means comfortable al fresco dining for 8 on the foredeck , 12 in the cockpit, and 6 on the aft deck. A fully catered sit down dinner for 50 was held on the foredeck as part of her millennium celebrations in Sydney, whislt 83 persons danced the new millennium in the same week with full safety approval of the Sydney Water Police.

The stylish and unique full teak handrail provides support, and security ofmovement for the very young and old to enjoy the large deck spaces safely, and also for the crew to carry out their work in heavy conditions. The features that make Cordelia such a considerable vessel are close to impossible to find on a yacht of this size, especially in one offering quality of build and design, endurance, range, and comfort.
