The Tayana 37, a classic Robert Perry design, has been one of the most successful products of the Taiwan-built boat invasion of the U.S. that began in the early 1970’s. Her classic beauty and traditional lines are evident in her shapely Baltic stern, scribed plank seams molded into the solid glass hull and lavish use of teak below decks. Her popularity as a blue water cruising boat and an exceptional live-aboard can be attributed to her extraordinary storage, comfort and stable, easily "handled by a couple" sailing ability.
It is easy to understand the attraction of the Tayana 37 as a live-aboard and cruiser when you look at the spacious, well-lit interior filled with “old world” charm. AUSTERUS has excellent storage throughout with numerous lockers, drawers and shelves as well as many other amenities that will be appreciated by the serious cruiser. AUSTERUS has been the well-loved home for over 10 years of owners who work professionally in the yachting industry doing canvas, cushions and custom sails.

The interior plan of this Tayana 37 sleeps five, but she has been designed as a rather lavish cruising suite for two, with occasional guests.
Starting forward is the owner’s stateroom with a large V-berth in a functional, comfortable cabin that is unusually spacious. The custom made, foam mattress with memory foam topper is exceptionally comfortable. There is excellent storage in (2) small lockers under and (2) lockers outboard on each side of the V-berth, which is finished in beautiful traditional Tayana 37 teak joinery work! Louvered doors access a large, divided rope/chain locker forward.
Next aft to port is the large, enclosed head with vanity with Formica counter top with storage under, a stainless steel sink and a proper offshore head – facing fore and aft. There are (2) lockers, as well as a teak shower grate and seat. The head has a holding tank and Y-valve for overboard discharge.
Opposite the head to starboard is a true wardrobe with (1) hanging locker and (1) locker customized with mesh shelves. These are flanked by a huge 4-drawer storage unit. The double-door and single-door hanging lockers have a combined 4’ of hanging space. Above the wardrobe is a teak fiddled storage area. The entire forward cabin can be closed off by the head door for complete privacy.
It is easy to understand the attraction of the Tayana 37 for use as a liveaboard when you look at her main salon, which is well lit and airy with a spacious, light ambiance. To port is a large L-shaped settee with deep comfortable cushions which makes into a double sleeping berth, with generous stowage under, behind and above in lockers and bookshelves. “AUSTERUS” has numerous lockers, drawers, shelves and excellent storage throughout and many amenities that will be appreciated by the serious cruiser. Opposite to starboard, a single settee pulls out for a double berth with storage behind cushion backs, in louvered lockers with bookshelves in between and in (3) drawers underneath. With the lee cloth deployed, the single settee makes a great pilot berth.
Other great features in the salon include a flat screen TV and stereo as well as the beautiful, classic Tayana teak woodwork that gives the appearance and feel of fine furniture. In addition, all bulkheads are staved, solid teak, all locker doors are louvered for ventilation and all bookshelves have retaining fiddles. The cabin sole is varnished teak and holly. Over head are two teak handrails and the headliner above is white Formica panels with teak trim. There is a hatch over the forward berth and one amidships with custom screens throughout, allowing for great ventilation and light while at anchor or at the dock. The overall ambiance of the this attractive salon exudes "old world" charm.
The navigation station, to starboard and facing outboard has a hinged teak navigation desk with ample storage under and plenty of room for navigation books, charts and electronics. Next aft is the quarter berth.
The galley, located to port of the companionway, is a fine U-shaped galley of a size more commonly associated with a 45’ boat, with deep double stainless steel sinks with hot/cold pressure water on centerline for better drainage, large deep storage locker/bin with lift out container inset into the teak galley counter, fresh water foot pump and a three burner, stainless steel propane stove with oven and broiler. In addition, there is also a louvered food locker outboard and a 12V refrigeration system in a large top loading icebox. This galley with its great layout and abundant storage is perfect for a gourmet chef to cook full meals in while cruising or while living aboard full-time.
