'Time Wins' turns heads wherever she goes. Her proportions are exquisite and are reminiscent of the celebrated Palm Beach Yachts, which largely copied some of her most exquisite characteristics.
Cec Quilkey, who completed his boat building apprenticeship with Lars Halvorsen, is recognised as one of Australia's most celebrated designer and builder. His designs aesthetically perfect in proportions, are matched by the trademark, elegant way with which his boats move through the water. For Cec Quilkey, each and every one of his boat was meant as a masterpiece.
Built in 1972 of cold molded triple planked oregon and sheathed at the time of building for ultimate bonding and durability, 'Time Wins' must be seen in the flesh to be truly appreciated. Always maintained with due respect to her heritage value, this beautiful yacht was given an extensive renovation in 2008 by master shipwrights at Empire Marina (Bobbin Head). The interior was mostly stripped and re-fashioned, and today presents as gleaming as it did then. Her solid timber interior fit-out gleams, and the addition of state-of-art modern equipment and appliances established 'Time Wins' firmly in the category of luxury modern cruiser.
Her wide decks, big transom and intelligent layout make her the perfect boat to entertain or live aboard.

'Time Wins' is built of triple plank cold molded oregon on oregon stringers and frames. Keel, shines, deadwood and deck shelf are all oregon, laminated with eposy glue. The hull was sheathed in epoxy / Dynel at the time of building for perfect bonding and durability. The result is what today's building type would be described as 'composite'. (Includes many production boats, which use a far less strong but more perishable wood (balsa) beneath the GRP).
The yacht was hand-stripped stripped in 2015 and repainted using high-build epoxy primer and a two-pack polyester paint, which can be polished each year to preserve her gleam.
Decks are teak planked over epoxy / Dynel, and cabin sides and coamings are in clear finished mahogany and Queensland maple. Cabin roof / coachroof is sheathed in epoxy / Dynel.. 'Time Wins' was fully re-varnished in 2015.
Boarding 'Time Wins' via the strong and wide teak duck board which occupies most of the transom, a small opening door with hinged top gives access to the cockpit. It is hard not to be impressed by the generosity of this space for a 35' yacht. A stainless and steel ladder goes up to the flybridge, which is closed by a hatch for safety.
Interior and exterior living spaces flow naturally through the wide and beautifully varnished sliding door.
Stepping into the salon, a freshly re-upholstered white leather (leatherette) lounge forms a U shape around the highly varnished table, which is mounted on adjustable stainless steel legs. The table can be lowered to form a large double bed. On the salon floor is a pure wool carpet, which is tailored to the floor and easily removed to access the engine bay.
To starboard is a long settee, which curve around to the forward cabinets, where a TV/DVD on electric lowering controls so that it can be tastefully hidden away from sight when not needed. The TV is connected for surround sound to the Clarion sound system with mounted speakers throughout the boat. The saloon is simply beautiful, and give an impression of space and comfort far beyond what one would expect from a 35' yacht. The lightly tinted windows are perfectly positioned to provide an unbeatable panoramic view over the water, and open to allow for cross ventilation on hot days.
Designed to be a perfect entertainer during the day, 'Time Wins' is nevertheless more suited to a romantic weekend away or as a live-aboard for a couple at night. Her forward V berth is huge, and the table can convert to a double bed. Combined with the saloon settee, 'Time Wins' can technically sleep 5, but the layout is more focused on providing luxurious accommodation for 2, and maximum living space rather than cabins and beds.
Head and shower are completely separate, and accessed through their own private door from the galley area. The head is fitted with an electric toilet with holding tank, wash basin and storage, and the shower is generously proportioned. Both have opening windows for good ventilation.
A few steps down from the salon is the magnificent galley, which will not fail to make many land lubbers very jealous. Big enough to make you believe that you are on a boat twice this size, it occupies the whole midships section of the yacht, with cream caesar-stone bench tops, a huge amount of dedicated storage in the form of soft closing draws, many lockers and a separate pantry. There are caesar-stone covers for the waste-bin receptacle and sink, as well as a cover for the double Miele stove. Other appliances include a combine microwave / oven and a large capacity stainless steel double draw fridge with digital temperature control.
During the day opening hatched and a full length window strip provide plenty of natural light. At night, lighting is versatile, with hidden light strips beneath the cupboards or overhead fittings.
The flybridge is easily accessed via a secured opening hatch. It is enclosed with stainless steel railing for safety and offers a generously proportioned area to entertain or keep company to the skipper. Flybridge helm cockpit area were recently refurbished with brand new instrumentation, gauges, clears and canopy. On either side of the helmseat are the double engine controls, switchboard for VHF, Stereo, Navigation lights and Raymarine depth sounder / plotter.
There is plenty of storage available beneath the helm area, as well as under the settees.
The forward deck area is accessed via the side decks, which are fitted with grab-rails and easily navigated. The deck is in beautiful condition and fringed with a long, curving stainless steel pushpit complete with fender holders . At the bow is the anchor roller and gypsy, with foot switch for the anchor winch.
Deck hardware includes stainless steel bollards, cleats and fairleads, all in immaculate condition.
